Sorry if this is a stupid question. i am just really nervous because its my first time growing. i was wondering if these were crystals forming around the bud sites on the leaves or is it that white mildew i heard of? i just wanna do everything right.

Those are 100% trichomes. Powdery mildew will start off as circular white patches. Once they take hold the whole surface of the infected leaf will be coated in a white powdery substance. Hence the name "powdery mildew".
