Hey guys, my GSC seedling is about a week old. She had some problems getting rid of her seed head, and I managed to fully remove the seed coating and membrane just over 24hrs ago. Is she a write-off? It’s not looking too good

I don't see any hope for her, tbh... there's not even a hint of green... sorry! You've got some nice grows under your belt so chalk this one up and pop another seed or two... I'm wondering how you were able to remove the helmet head... did you spray it with a little water and waiting a day before trying to get it off? I've heard that spitting on the seed casing is also a pretty good way of getting it to dislodge (something about the enzymes/acids/somethingorother in our spit)... Anway, DO try again and hopefully you won't have this problem with your next seed! Good luck...

Not all seeds make it and this is one of those......... Personally I stress out when I see bottles over seedlings and bottles over plants AND inside a humidity box makes me positively ill........ seedlings NEED good air exchange to grow properly. Think about what happens in nature... there certainly aint any little bottle fairies flying around protecting seedlings with unnecessary humidity domes!

High Kizdog, I am sorry to say but you better start over again. This can happen to everyone. Better luck with your next seed bro! Happy Growing! 😋

next time.. let the cotyledons form before u start prying seed open, see that they are developed, first.. they'll push teh shell open further and make it easier too... if taken off before cotyledons develop it's not a good thing. the less we do the better... often fiddling makes things worse. wait for the shell to be easily removed with a couple small tweezers or soemthing. hold one side ensure it is only the shell you are secuing and pull on other half very gently at widest opening. if difficult wait longer. was this papertowel method? that can lead to seed sheels not popping off as easily... or if sown in very loose substrate or too shallow the shell is more likely to stay on. don't ove do that last part though if adjusting... better it has an easier path than a extremely tortorous one to break ground. but, the substrate will catch it and tug it off better in some cases without causing any added time to sprout. anyway, you can do things that will reduce the likelyhood of this occurring.. just becareful not to go too far.. pulling of a shell shouldn't be a problem in most cases.
