Autos and Nutes?

GrowGirl419
GrowGirl419started grow question 4 years ago
When growing autos, what nutes and how much do you like to use? I use about a quarter strength of Nectar for the Gods series. I've noticed a little nute burn but not bad. Now do nutes stunt growth in autos or is it really play by ear?

The basics are the same as growing photo strains, the only difference being not having the ability to control the amount of time she's in the vegetave stage and when to introduce bloom nutes. But simply feed her grow nutes until the first flowers appear and then gently introduce bloom nutes...

I answered this twice. I understand that theres other additives. But theres a difference between nutrients and additives. Anything under 1 NPK isnt a nutrient, its an additive. Auto flowers are all different. but I use advanced nutrients grow micro and bloom with sensi cal-mag, jacks bloom booster, Humboldt golden tree and sweet sticky. If the NPK values are like these i use, you should use them at full strength and then some. These nutrients are extremely difficult to over use, if you're watering correctly because of the low NPK values. Jacks bloom booster, on the other hand will burn your plants in a second if you do not mix it correctly. That npk 10-30-20 compare that to ANs 4-0-1 and you see the differences. I have found that most auto flowers are heavy feeders. Because they're growing so fast and expending energy. At the end of the day it boils down to what you are happy with. I personally prefer pushing my plants hard, but not abusing them. I was taught to increase nutrients until the plant shows some stress, then back off 10%

Depends on the NPK. What is the NPK of each?

RonnieB, it's soil and Nectar for the Gods line from Oregon's Only. I have almost the whole Roman line except for 4 of the middle ones. It's a complex system and goes by far more than just NPK. It's a calcium based organic line. Pretty awesome but I'm new to growing this type of plant so I'm not super sure about autos. I have them listed in my nute section in week 9 I believe if you want more info.

I agree Experimentgreen, I only feed once a week. Maybe it's not enough for Tangerine Dream but a little much for AK?

It varies plant to plant..some autos handle heavy over feeding well, others need very low fed. Sometimes the breeder has recommendations for each strain and what they handle best. I usually run my autos at a half dose but i only feed them either once or twice a week depending on how fast they dry. If you're using a 1/4 dose and getting some stresses, try spacing out your plain ph water and nutrient water farther apart. Maybe every 3rd watering be nutrients? Nutes can stunt the growth if they do enough damage, either by making the leaves less effect, or by stressing it out so bad it can't perform as effectively as a healthy undamaged plant would. I learned a little too late that "less is more", growers have a tendency to think More means More. Lol
