drying with very hot temp? DIY temperature control?

You can do it in stages... dry.. place in a sealed jar for 2-4 hours to "sweat it out" (just get moisture more even - turns soft on outside again etc), then back drying on rack or hung up. When outer portion starts to dry, repeat that process. You can slow down the drying and make it even out as you go... still not optimal, like bloombuster said, but in future if it's unavoidable this is a strategy that you can employ in such a context.
