Thoughts on bud washing? Our area has been hammered with smoke and ask for a month, and I can see it on the buds. The idea scares me, even though i have seen a lot of videos on it.

Iam washing my Outdoor Ladies, because of dust,,, but mostly little insects or spidereggs or such a stuff is into the buds I take abiig Bucket and put in cold water, Then i take soda// Natriumbicarbonate, ans solvwe it into the water. I take whole branches inside and let them there for 15 minutes, then i take them out, shake it well and hang them onto a cord, for dripping then i trimm them wet, or let them dry and do drytrimming, depends on hoew big the plant is, but most time i do wet trimming One great favt is that, Natriumbicarbonate, dehydrates alittle, so the Plants dry faster, and they are much better to cut fresh, because they are getting more solid.... you can look into my diary " shaman" there i washed and took pictures. for more info just ask

Gentle washing is a good thing, and you can make a nice insect repellent out of garlic, onion, and rosemary blended with water to do it with. Personally I wouldn't do much else because I wouldn't want to run the chance of particles of anything sticking around and being smoked. Don't let them sit in water for too long, otherwise you run the risk of dissolving the trichomes. After washing make sure you get as much airflow over them as you can (which can be hard outside, especially when its smokey) but I wouldn't worry about washing until dry time anyway, except for spraying the above as a insect repellent.

In this case I would say yes. Trichomes are water soluble so as long as you're gentle enough, you shouldn't lose many. I recommend bud washing for every outdoor grow anyway. You'd be surprised how many bugs and feces are in there.
