seed husk fails to fall

MULLIGAN
MULLIGANstarted grow question 3 years ago
most of my seedlings sprout and the shell husk never really 'falls' off. when I wait for nature, I end up with 1 or more rotten cotyledon. -planting shallow in peat plug. -never get roots to grow to bottom. -do I need to plant deeper into plug so plant can get better grip?

Use rockwool my friends.. Peat Moss is great for Dirt.. Peat moss is terribly for hydroponics.. It's far to acidic.. And your seedling will be at a ph of 4-5.. Great for starting blueberries but not great for starting cannabis.. Lean towards neutral starting solutions or aim for a better ph with your peat pucks.. Peat moss that is 40-60 is a bit better as it will have Coco Fibre in it which is more neutral then a 100% peat moss puck.. Ask your local grow store or order Rockwool online.

The husk from seed will naturally fall off in time but is very insignificant to worry about as long as plant made it out of the husk. Planting deeper in plug will make it harder for plant to emerge, don't want that. Use water. Using the path nature intended works well. You could try cutting plug in half if it's too deep or wait. Roots will naturally follow water and nutrition. Good luck and hope that helps. 👊

Don't germinate with H202 you are growing plants not disinfecting. I mean use h202 if you want 2. I have some I don't use it for much, lots of people like to give their local hydro store extra money...

This happens frequently with babies. You can attempt to help remove the shell or just let it grow. Usually even if it sticks the plant keeps going just fine. I personally have caused more issues trying to remove them than if I left it alone. 🤘😤

running hydroponic setup with 2"net cups. coco lined interior with expanded clay setup. I germinate 12 hours weak h2o2, then another 8-12 before moving to plug. ph is tap 7.8 for soak, finish germinating at ph 6.0 peat plug
