Leaf diagnosis: nutrient burn or deficiency (or both)?

SmokeableHobbystarted grow question 3 years ago
he leaves with the burnt tips appear to be more prominent at the top of the canopy, only affecting new leaves. A handful of these leaves look a little twisted. Meanwhile, the yellowing leaves are more prominent in the middle of the plant, just below the canopy
Solved
Leaves. Edges burnt
Leaves. Veins - stay green
Leaves. Color - Yellow

This is a combination of multiple deficiencies caused by a toxicity! You are over feeding them with Calcium (Ca) causing a toxicity which inhibits Potassium (K), which is also the most severe deficiency, Magnesium (Mg), Iron (Fe), and Manganese (Mn) uptake. Keep in mind that Calcium is a micro-nutrient which is needed in small amounts in the plant so using a Calcium based additive will cause toxicities if not used carefully, and only when deficiencies show. Try not to fertilize with the "Botanicare Cal-Mag Plus" and check the plant daily for any improvement/deterioration, don't forget to irrigate with at least 20-30% runoff, and lastly make sure that the pH is balanced at about 6.0-6.5. If the plants don't show any signs of recovery in a week or shows slow recovery you could increase the "Bloom" dosage by around 20-30% Hope this helps! Good luck and happy growing :)

Thanks everyone for the replies - the general consensus I gathered was a combination of potential a pH problem along with some nutrient lockout issues. I decided to flush both of my 5 gallons yesterday out of an abundance of caution and when I tested the runoff, I clued in on part of the problem - my 5 gallons were reading 5.6 and 5.8....ooof. I kept flushing until my pH readings came back 6.1 and 6.2. I'll keep an eye on them for the next couple days to see if I see any signs of improvement. Appreciate all the advice!

An EC of over 3 is pretty crazy. One say the EC was 6.9 but I'm hoping that's an error. Your EC should almost always be under 2.2. Definitely toxicity.

I would think the extra bloom might be affecting the soil ph. What is your run off ph? Would always start there ph is very important to keep in range. Good luck and happy growing šŸŒ²šŸŒ²šŸŒ²šŸ‘Š

Tough one. My best guess is potassium toxicity. This causes multiple micronutrient deficiencies including calmag because it locks them out. If you started using a bloom booster, you can be pretty certain this is likely the case.

I see you feeding full dose of 2 different bloom nutrients. Any reason for that? You are giving them massive amounts of nutrients which can cause problems with uptake. I'd stick with one bloom nutrient and I saw you had your lights at 12 inches, that is very close, I run a sf 1000 and I keep it at around 17 for flower, otherwise that light will cause me problems with leaves yellowing and burning. Hope this helps. Happy growing.
