Old stem left from topping is cracking. What should I do?

Hey guys I realized today that the old bit of stem left from the topping has started to crack and split. Do I need to be worried about this spreading to the rest of the stalk? Should I reinforce it somehow? I have it covered with duct tape to prevent anything from getting inside

Use some twine or garden wire to wrap the two bits together. Do not cover, it will heal itself over time. The reason for the twine/garden tie is to provide some support in the time it heals and to prevent the break from worsening as the flowers mature. Good luck!

It's fine, she will be healed and strong enough. No need to do anything to it, covering it with anything like tape will just increase the chances of mould or fungus developing under the tape due to the lack of air circulation. Plants have been coping with these sorts of problems for 1000s of years without help. Hope this helps,..... Organoman.

I see your split. Don't cover with tape. Possible use a zip tie or use some wire to pull branches together for support. As buds get heavier it will split more. Scotch tape is possible a option. Good luck and happy growing 🌲🌲🌲👊

Nothing to worry about! that's just the old broken stem drying out. Covering it with tape will only increase the risk of mold. Good luck and happy growing :)
