I have 1 burn auto for excessive light, should I throw this one and start from seed again or maybe flipping to 12/12? The light is farther now but maybe I can do something else than put away my lights.. my current schedule is 18/6 and the plant is around 45-50 days old
Solved

Sad as it may seem, starting again is probably your most realistic option. If it was a photoperiod plant you could control the flowering cycle longer, so she could recover a bit and go on flowering, however, slowly. Being an auto, by the time she recovers to good health and strong growth, the flowering cycle could be well and truly over and will probably result in small flowers with compromised cannabinoid production/quality. Going to 12/12 for a 7-10 days before going back to 18/6 may not be as silly as it seems and may be one/the only way to rescue her, but without any guarantees. Being in a reduced light cycle will not stress her as much as having 18 hours and may allow for some repair to proceed before getting too involved with attempting to continue growing her flowers, which is a "high energy requiring" activity; something your plant is unable to do at this moment. A gentle 12 hour cycle may just allow for some/enough repair to occur during her night/dark cycle, which is why plants do need to "sleep" - to repair any damage that happened during the day and is something advocates of 24 hour light cycles don't understand. After 5 days of 12/12 you will know whether she is picking up or is a lost cause. You can only try. Sadly though, she may be beyond any help and starting again might be more expedient. Chalk it up to experience. Lots of maybes in this answer, but trying is the only way to find out accurately. They way you feel when you look at your plant is 10 times less than how SHE feels right now, so in reality, starting again is probably the only realistic option. The way she is now, will give you a little bit of poor quality flowers and if you are desperate, could be worth salvaging, but if you want to rationalize your electricity bill, planting new seeds is probably better. Hope you can make some sense out of my ramblings,..... and I hope this helps in some way,....... Organoman.

I’ve personally grown in similar environments as you not outdoors 😉 and can tell you anyone willing to tell you that abrupt changes in light cycle for AUTOFLOWERS won’t stress your plant most likely haven’t had much personal experience in the matter 😳. Obviously your plant needs care and obviously your outcome won’t be ideal. I’m just trying not to get you more confused and misinform you of your particular setup and grow. Get 12/12 out of your head for autos... regardless if your plants need recovery or not that’s not the answer.

I just had to answer my fellow "expert"/ question "responder", going to 12/12 for a few days will not cause your plant to turn hermaphrodite or any other such nonsense, but will allow your plant to recover a bit before going back to 18/6. Besides, the condition she is now in, is more likely to cause any problems with sexual expression, than a few days with lessened light. She needs some tender loving care right now, not the continued high energy activity that flowering is. Talking about diminished yields in regard to this plant is a moot point, she is already suffering and 5-10 days under 12/12 will not effect yield greatly - maybe one gram, if that. The most important thing to achieve first, is to get her up and running again. 12/12 could provide for a much gentler transition into recovery and could be likened to your plant being in the Intensive Care Unit. At this stage, still aiming for maximum yield should take a back seat to restoring health, as the first priority. I am (personally) afraid that continuing in this condition at 18/6, might over tax an already over taxed plant. Starting again is another option for you, recovery may or may not be successful, however, a diminished yield, whatever you do (12/12 or 18/6) is no doubt, a guaranteed outcome. I am sure you have already learned about light height and will be aware of this next grow. Once again, hope this helps,..... Organoman

So I’m going to go ahead and say it again flipping to 12/12 will not help your grow at all I just had to say something 🙄 plants do indeed need “sleep” or a dark period, however 18/6 is plenty for an auto. Most people don’t realize that autoflowers grow for as long as you want them. I once grew mine out for 16 weeks and she stacked up even more the last two 😉. The most important thing is don’t go 24hrs and regardless of wether you start off at 18/4 or 12/12 (not recommended for autos) keep the light schedule the same throughout the grow. Unless you want balls on your plants and diminished yield as a result. Don’t scrap your plant and hard work especially when there still is viable 🎄 just learn from this for the next. No point in starting again only to make the same mistakes if ya get what I mean 😂

Hi ! Succes alvast!🤞🌱

I wouldn’t recommend flipping to 12/12 that will cause your auto flower to stress more and produce balls/seeds. Auto flowers are exactly that they flower automatically regardless of light schedule, etc. since it is already that far along you may as well do your best to move her along until harvest. If it is indeed light stress reduce your lights watt output and raise. Make sure your grow environment doesn’t exceed 86F or below 74F raise the humidity higher the temp. If you message me I will give you a detailed chart of proper RH per temp. Have a fan blow over the canopy below the lights this will help dissipate heat directly over your plants. Make sure there is sufficient ventilation. Your plant may not just be suffering from light stress keep that in mind. Hope this helped. Happy Growing Cheers! 🌱🎄🔥
