When transplanting into a fabric pot, i noticed that I have lot more run off making it difficult to clean. Any ideas to combat this? Also when I transplanted I've noticed I keep needing to add soil because it keeps settling where it seems I don't have enough.normal mistake?

I have seen a lot of variation in how quickly potting soils will accept water. One type will be dripping out the bottom of the pot with the first bit of water while other brands soak up water more quickly. I pace my watering to what the soil can handle. If it's running out the bottom before you think it should then slow down. Lightly water the entire surface and give it a couple minutes and give another light watering. Then come back an hour later and feel the sides and bottom of the pot. I like for all the soil to be moist so if you have dry areas that's where it needs more water next time. As for the settling it sounds like you aren't filling the pot. I put in several inches then lightly compress it and make sure it's fully into the corners of the pot. Then add another layer and repeat. The moisture content of your medium also makes a difference. Dry soil doesn't like to compact as well as moist/damp soil.

Hey unfortunately the only way to solve this is water slower.

think I planted it too high causing the dirt to keep falling/settling around it , but I wanted to give enough soil underneath to keep her healthy. idk if this was right or what?
