Stunted seedling growth

Toscandrew
Toscandrewstarted grow question 4 years ago
My seedling is almost 3 weeks old now and he looks stunted. I've been growing it outside with at about 73 F degress almost everyday but it doesn't seem to be growing at all. he's only 2.5 cm tall with purple stem. Leaves are still green tho. horrible soil or overwatering problem?

TheHappyClique answered grow question 6 hours ago "Then u want to gradually introduce your girls to the sun day by day . Of u just leave them out side they will suffer" Nonsense. Where do you thinks plant live and come from? I fucking germinate seeds and leave them outdoors, entirely. Even in winter.

Need some context mate soil ? Root temps ? Root pH ? Light schedule for Ur part of world ect . I will say if that is 3 weeks old I'd probably be pulling her up if it was me and starting some indoors for the first 2/3 weeks to ensure u have plenty of roots and leafs B4 u place her out side . Then u want to gradually introduce your girls to the sun day by day . Of u just leave them out side they will suffer SLOW AND STEADY WINS THE RACE Side note I'd add some vermiculite/perlite to Ur substrate next time 10l to 50ltr of potting soil is about right

Your soil composition there looks fine for aeration, but nutrient levels and pH balance might be slightly off. Overwatered typically looks quite different to that (drooping, perhaps pale). It looks really healthy tbh, if slow. At worst just transplant/repot it. It'll be fine (probably is fine, just kinda slow, but it might have focused on root development, that sometimes kinda happens).

Hi just a thought, from looking at your soil i dont see any perlite or pummus. It could be that your soil does not have enough aeration and maybe too packed hard for root growth. I always add at least 30 percent perlite when i mix soil seems to be the right amount. A seedling should have everything to grow properly for a coupke weeks. It does not look overwatered to me. It looks great to me. I would repot that thing with sone good areated soil and o bet she will take off

Just to put it into perspective I have 3 gal pots, i watered until a small amount of run off. Let the pot dry for 24 hours, took my seed out of the water I left it to soak in, planted and didnt water for 10 days. Obviously you could be different because of your pot, temp and RH. Its easier to go off the weight of the pot. If its heavy, leave it... really light, water. Dry periods are actually beneficial.. obviously dont let her wilt though 😝

It could possibly be due to over watering. Are you letting it dry out a little before the next water? I had the same issue with one of my plants. Once I got the watering right it took off. I started a new grow due to it and left her running in a smaller pot. Theres a considerable difference in leaf size between my seedlings and my nearly 4 week old plant (12 day old seedlings leaves are bigger already.)

Probably has a ph in substrate that is too high. If ph is out of range the plant can't absorb nutrients so it won't grow. Test run off ph.
