Soil digging vermin

Has anyone ever experienced vermin getting into their soil repeatedly? Is it the super soil? I find that they don’t do it as much with worm castings dressed on top. Anyone have any ideas why?

The vermin was a skunk. Elevating the cups high enough off the ground worked great. One of the seedlings died likely due to this but lessons always learned!

Don't leave sprouts on the ground in Solo cups. Night is when many mammals come out to forage for food and a cup on the ground is right at their level. You could have cats, dogs, opossum, raccoon, mice, rats... If you want to leave them out and on the ground I would put a fence around them.

Small boxes with holes. Put a few mothballs in them and place them around your garden.
