Ongoing pH issues

Watered at 6.5 pH and runoff was at 5.5. I am going to start watering at a higher pH today and continue measuring runoff. Should I stop feeding at this time? I have been feeding 1/2 dosage of Fox farms trio with every watering last 2 weeks. Is there likely soil build up to flush?

Water, water, feed, water, water, feed is the most useful schedule, that way the plant uses everything you added before you add any more nutrients. Yes, feeding each and every irrigation can lead to nutrient salts building up to toxic levels, no need to flush, just start with the water, water, feed routine. I would suggest going to 18/6, 4 hours of "sleep" may not be quite enough for a healthy metabolism. You won't be missing out on anything by going to 18/6, in fact, results may even be better from a plant that is getting sufficient "sleep". I would also be adding a cal/mag supplement and a soluble blend of trace elements (available at nearly every garden centre) to boost her health. Hope this helps, Organoman.

I would let the medium dry out and keep feeding at 6.5 ph. I would still use the nutrients but at 1/4 strength and have a 20 percent run off. It is always good to test the ph and ppm of whats going in and out of your medium. This will let you know what your plants uptake is. You want to have the root zone always in it's optimal range for the plants stage of life.

Only in coco you give nutrients all the time… you ph is low cause you are growing in salts not soil! Best is to trow away the plants… roots are burned and have no time to recover
