When to take your top off?

When is the best time to top? What exactly is a node? Is it the start of new growth on the main trunk?

A node is where side leaves (and later on new branches) appear. You usually should wait until 4-5 nodes have formed, unless you want to do some hardcore HST. Do not count cotyledon leaves as a node.

Accidently topped my autoflower, we it survive/rebound?Day 24 in my first ever grow. Mephisto northern cheese haze auto. Did a round of LST/Tucking last night, woke up to a fully broken off top growth of the main stem, effectively topping it(?). Is there anything I can/should do? Flower stretch...top or tuck the super strechers?Should i tuck all the tops that popped up over night? As you see my trellis is right about even with tops in my most recent pic, i swear these bitches grew 4..5 inches over night . secondary branches stretch during floweringI've been growing Moby Dick using a mainlining technique. During the stretch phase, some secondary branches have grown a lot and are not close to the main stem anymore. Should I keep them? Should I cut? Will they help making big, fat colas?5y ago

Dense plant / deficiency?My goal was to form a quite compact plant using just LST on weeks 2,3 -5. Switched light from 6000k to 2700-3kK but there’s almost none prolongation of the stems-mean plant is very dense and compact.
