VPD: what's the minimum temperature I should target during germination / seedling ? The chart I'm using seems to say target .4-.8 , so i'm close to that with my current .75-.83 vp ... but I'm nervous about my seeds in the soil not getting enough warmth.

what is VP or VPD?? I know temperatures as Celsius or Fahrenheit. Substrate/Tent temps should be 15c+ but under 26c for sprouting seeds, if its to warm they grow really lengthy and weak. RH or retaliative humidity should be in the 60% range. 80% is ok as well but watch out for molds on the mediums surface. Once seeds pop cut open hole in top of cups acting as humidity domes for passive air exchange. Lights should be the same distance throughout the grow from its canopy. Some people reduce power when in seedling form but in nature they get a good amount of sun. Indoor lights don't normally output more light then the sun either. Try 12" away, if they are stretching to much lower by 4" and test it out. Best get get a light meter and find out optional distance, it's different for every light. Germination will work in even lower temps but will take longer, and longer time = more opportunities for something to go wrong. Best of luck

OOO OK. Thanks for clearing that up. VPD = Vapor Pressure Deficit charts. [67f and 51% rh right now] this is good. If you can get RH to 60% even better if not, it will still work out just fine. First time I'm hearing/looking at it VPD, but its almost like I followed that charts flow without knowing it was a thing. Crazy stuff. Thanks for introducing me to that, great tool to use BTW, I'm going to save it for future use. https://scynceled.com/vpd-chart/ So yea, I don't think that's going to matter as much on a smaller/hobby level with a tent setup that's not sealed. Your going to be all over that chart when fans kick in or temps alternate from day to night. I can see that being a very useful tool in larger sealed grow spaces. I would say everything you are doing is great so far. If your having troubles with increasing humidity in the tent later, ultrasonic water diffusers are great or hanging up wet towels to dry in their also helps as passive solution. I've done this before, you will need to wet them more if temps are warmer as they will evaporate faster. I do have a bit of a bias as I use a automated fan system that turns on when temps or RH get to high. So it helps keep me in that range, but in winter now my tent is always 10-25% under ideal RH%, I just try to keep it above 40 till the plants get bigger and will help maintain their own homeostasis of humidity. Cheers

@m0use; vp should have been vpd, was a typo. The environment is hard to maintain, so I'm trying to go with changing temp when can, and humidity when while targeting a good VPD Vapor Pressure Deficit ? I'm still trying to learn and understand the concept, so asking questions. But, I think its a way to look at temp and humidity as a single net result where you try to make it easier for the plant to respirate well for its growth stage. Anyways, thanks for the feedback. So far it sounds like ... I'll should the lights down to 12 and try to keep the temp over 20c/68f and try to bump humidity to go with it to get the lower vpd. as is , i think my temps are getting too low sometimes. ad humidity is a struggle. Anyways, at about 67f and 51% rh right now.
