A question for the DWC folks: I'm having trouble keeping the PH in the 5.5 - 6.5 range. It seems I have to adjust it down about every three days or so. Is this normal? My buckets have 13 liters of solution and I have yet to top up more than a liter since filling.

Hey there I am growing in a dwc at the moment, your ph will fluctuate as plant uses the nutrition. It will get start to swing more if the nutrition amount is not at what the plant is using. So if Appling right amounts with your ph reducer or ph increaser it will stabilize for longer time spans. So if ph is increasing it wants slightly stronger nutrition. If ph goes down the nutrition amount is too strong. When you hit the sweet spot it will very slowly rise if any. Hopefully that helps and happy growing 🌱

this is normal, you want a slight increase in ph over time. usually ph will rise when a plant is eating more then drinking and will lower when drinking more then eating. I say usually because ph fluctuations can happen for other reasons as well. I say a slight rise as you want your ph to go between 5.8-6.2 as different nuturents are more or less available in the range and will provide the most benefits. A slightly hungry plant will grow much better then a slightly overfed plant.

I personally check mine once or twice a day and add a few drops as needed of pH up or down. I keep mine at 5.8 and I usually only need 1 or 2 drops to adjust it. I know most people don't check that often but I want to best pH for my babies. I haven't had to add any water to my tanks yet. The roots just hit the water a day ago. I did a full tank change Wednesday with water at 5.8 pH. Hope my answer helps.

hey there backchecker, it's quite "normal" , but you dont want it to happen , basically. So what's happening is that the velokelp is raising the pH sustainably over time. What you want to do is to switch that out with something a bit more stable for example fluvic acid or "great white". Hope this helps ! 🚀
