It is rubbish.
Extended darkness reduces a plants metabolism to almost zero and a plant with a non functioning metabolism can not support healthy cannabinoids.
I believe extended darkness leads to cannabinoid breakdown not enhancement.
Certainly without light energy, your plant will not be able to prevent THC breaking down into CBD and CBN, which are 2 non-psychoactive cannabinoids.
It is bro science/a myth, that due to the internet has survived despite no evedence that it works 100% of the time, and with every plant.
This myth came from one article whereby one plant showed a slight increase and all the others showed decreases in THC levels.
It was not repeatable and did not work predictably and without fail.
So, someone has read "darkness increased THC levels (in one plant)", thought it applies to every cannabis plant and with the magic of the internet, a new "special enhancement technique" (myth) was born.
In human terms, would not eating for 3 days enhance your performance in marathon running? I think not.
A near finished plant, then subjected to days of zero metabolism due to no light energy - how on Earth can this enhance or benefit anything.
Why anyone would, after months of careful cultivation, then subject their plants to days of zero metabolic activity, right before harvest and in the misguided belief that it will get them 0.001% more THC, is beyond me.
Don't do it, just chop it in the morning, about an hour after the lights come on and you will get the tastiest and healthiest buds would be my advice, based on close to forty years of researching cannabis cultivation, including many, many experiments determining harvest timing.
Your plant still has some time before final ripeness, perhaps another 3 weeks, wait until there are about 98% brown pistils/hairs, this will put you in the "10-30% amber trichome" zone without having to look too hard.
Hope this helps, Organoman.
