I read abt putting the plant in total darkness for the last 2 to 7 days before harvest. This is supposed to help thc production. Does anyone have an advice for me on this matter. Its urgent as she is already ready and ripe. Pls help!

I do it because I like a break before I'm about the murder them. If you a hobby grower does not matter. if your growing for profit less time = more money. Good Luck!

Nah, its been bunked finally as a myth. Darkness before harvest doesnt do anything to help at all. End of story. Keep lights on til she is ready and harvest first thing in the morning when she is ready to be chopped. Im a fan of doing a final heavy defol the day before i chop my plants as it makes trimming easier and the high stress is meant to make the plant think its being eaten by an animal and bump up THC production and resin production too in defense. No idea if it actually works, like I said its main purpose is to make trimming easier as I can chop and drop the leaves outdoors in garden bed, and take buds off to be trimmed at a table with less green waste on the table (plus do the work over two days not just one). But bro science says its meant to boost stuff...same as the dark period was meant to. That may be worth a try on one plant and see if it does anything u can see. Just dont waste time leaving em in the dark.

I’ve never heard of anything beyond 48-72 hours. This is a debatable subject but I personally just harvest after their normal 12 hour dark period. Organomans point is interesting as well.. This may be why ppl are so split on it.. degradation into CBN gives you a more sedative high than SOME folks seek out and others do not. So if you’re looking for a night time sedating smoke, it may be a good move.

It is rubbish. Extended darkness reduces a plants metabolism to almost zero and a plant with a non functioning metabolism can not support healthy cannabinoids. I believe extended darkness leads to cannabinoid breakdown not enhancement. Certainly without light energy, your plant will not be able to prevent THC breaking down into CBD and CBN, which are 2 non-psychoactive cannabinoids. It is bro science/a myth, that due to the internet has survived despite no evedence that it works 100% of the time, and with every plant. This myth came from one article whereby one plant showed a slight increase and all the others showed decreases in THC levels. It was not repeatable and did not work predictably and without fail. So, someone has read "darkness increased THC levels (in one plant)", thought it applies to every cannabis plant and with the magic of the internet, a new "special enhancement technique" (myth) was born. In human terms, would not eating for 3 days enhance your performance in marathon running? I think not. A near finished plant, then subjected to days of zero metabolism due to no light energy - how on Earth can this enhance or benefit anything. Why anyone would, after months of careful cultivation, then subject their plants to days of zero metabolic activity, right before harvest and in the misguided belief that it will get them 0.001% more THC, is beyond me. Don't do it, just chop it in the morning, about an hour after the lights come on and you will get the tastiest and healthiest buds would be my advice, based on close to forty years of researching cannabis cultivation, including many, many experiments determining harvest timing. Your plant still has some time before final ripeness, perhaps another 3 weeks, wait until there are about 98% brown pistils/hairs, this will put you in the "10-30% amber trichome" zone without having to look too hard. Hope this helps, Organoman.

Your plant is still bulking in the picture. It is a huge controversial issue to do dark. I do 48 hours on each harvest. I personally think it helps.

Bom dia. Se pesquisares o youtuber "Mr grow it", ele tem um podcast onde fala com um cientista sobre isso que disse as 72h de escuridão é um mito. Chega até a dizer que 72h de luz sem interrupção é melhor para o esforço final de produção de tricomas.
