What is the general consensus about allowing your plants have both artificial light with some direct sunlight as well? I put my plants on the window ledge to get 4-6 hiurs of direct sunlight, they literally explode with growth and thickness everytime I do this. I live 18th floor

Yes, it is done all the time. Supplemental lighting is used in greenhouses to increase crop production during time periods with low levels of solar radiation. These time periods usually occur during the winter months, but cloudy summer days can be as dark as some of the darker winter days.

The leaves will develop defences to UV, young plants seedlings, clones etc not advisable direct sun unsupervised. Reminded me of a song.... live on the fourteenth floor Of a tower block, and when I get bored I call 'cooee' to the passers-by And when they look up I gob in their eye

Its fine, do it, just be aware the sun is much more powerful then the LED's indoors and you should be calculating the DLI to ensure its not to much for the plant. They will most likely drink more outside as well so if feeding they will need less concentration as they will be up taking more. Good Luck & Happy Growing!

@Cannabis_carlitos yes i do it quite often to save on electricity and allow the plants some nice warm natural sun light and fresh air just keep in mind that you run the risk of hitch hikers (bugs) being transferred back indoors when you take the plants back in I always give them a look over for obvious signs of infestation

High Carlitos, Nothing wrong with using both. It is actually really smart to do so! The reasons why people choose to only grow inside a tent is because you can protect them against bugs and pests. And you can keep the smell inside your tent. But when you have a nice space for them standing in the hot sun for a few hours a day I would continue doing so! Happy Growing! 😋
