Is 1x1 enough to keep mothers happy? Or 1x2 would be maximum. Are these spaces too small?

You can keep it however small you like.. 1x1 being about the smallest I’d do.. You’re just restricting your ability to take a decent quantity of cuts at anytime. Depends what your end game is. If you’re trying to take a few dozen cuts all at once.. this won’t work. But if you want a clone or two here and there it’s fine. You will, however, have to continually prune and keep it cut down to size. Ultimately, I’d recommend a bit larger size. I run 8-12 in a 4x8 and it works well. I can take a dozen or so clones from any one at a time. Keeping moms just takes a little different shift in maintenance / mentality compared to vegging out plants for flower. I run low lights on them and keep containers smaller so they grow slower. Nutrients at a minimum. But it’s a fine line because you want them healthy enough to take clones.

You'll want a 5'×5' area for a mother plant. Let it grow a few feet tall and then weigh the branches down to stretch the plant out. You'll have all sorts of potential clone locations. When you take clones, don't take the whole off-shoot branch as a clone. Leave a node or two so that branch can grow back. If you take the whole branch, it is more than likely not going to grow back. I hope this helps.

High BBZGrows, Yes 1x1 should be enough! I kept a mother for 1 year inside a 1.2x1.2 closet. When you take clones often you can keep her slim doing this anyway. Happy Growing! 😋

if your speaking of feet and inches 1x1 is a bit small. a 2x2 would be better. If you train your mother plant and keep it in good health this should not be a big issue. The biggest issue with mother plants is keep them healthy. pests and disease gets in there and can alter the plant for ever and its kids to follow. I much prefer seeds and buying clones vs keeping a mother but I have not found my Goldilocks strain just yet. Hi if your talking 1 meter by 1 meter that should be fine, personally i would remove the shelfs and have them all on the floor as there get bigger to give you yourself more room to space them out but yeah looking good 🌱
