What's a good starter tent that can be upgraded? Should I buy a complete setup or individual pieces? Any advice? Haven't done thus in years

Hey folks. I'm looking to do indoor this winter. I'd like to get a tent with everything kinda ready to go. I would like a nice light ad well. Would I be better off buying a complete tent or buying each item separately. Looking to fit a few plants. Lookin 4 opinions

A couple of 2x4's some screws and tacks, and some black and white plastic from the hydroponic store and you can build any size tent you like. You can use a cheap pond liner from home depot for the floor, then you can water to runoff all you like and just vacuum it up with a wet vac.

Purchased a system from Spider Farmer and just completed my first grow. It worked well and had no complaints. If I had to do it over I would piece it together, it may cost more however. I love the SF2000 2x4 light, but would get a 4x4 tent to add a dehumidifier and heater as I am growing in an attic. I would have bought an exhaust fan with the temp/humidity controls and not just the fan controller speed (only option avail at time of purchase), a good ScrOG net, and tent wall supports to mitigate tent walls sucking in. Best of luck to you, feel free to DM with any questions. Happy to share my experience.

Package deals are made to a price point and often compromise on one thing or another, but are convenient and usually well matched. Personally I subscribe to the "buy once, cry once" principle and would look to buy the best components I could afford, especially the lighting and this would probably dictate buying components individually from a raft of manufacturers. Lighting is EVERYTHING when it comes to results indoors, so spending a bit more on that and a bit less on something else might be prudent.

Hey, Smeagol here, Master! (LOL).. Frankly, I wouldn't try to put bits and pieces together because you will most likely end up spending more - unless you want to grab a light from ebay, a tent from who-cares-where.. that sort of thing... If I had to do it over again, I would probably go with AC Infinity (although I don't know what their lights are like) ... I say that because I have one of the tents (I'm the kind who had to go piecemeal) ... and the quality of the tent is SUPERIOR... so I'm guessing the rest of their products are as well... Now, the only reason you might not WANT to go with a complete starter kit is if you live in your own home and don't care about smells (so maybe you don't need an in-line exhaust fan)... but if you're going to be using C02 then yeah, get the whole kit and kaboodle... I would look at 3 different outfits and compare them to see what YOU think is going to be good: AC Infinity, MarsHydro (has the option on their lights to mount the driver outside the tent which would help in warmer weather) and SpiderFarm .... I've also heard that LED bar lights are incredible... Oh... and the "man a message away" has discount codes for MarsHydro.. Look at those three... you'll know what you need/want - but you deserve to treat yourself and your wife after your summer experiences! And think about doing DWC... BIG harvests... :-D Good luck in your decision - can't wait to see what you decide!

I would buy each item separately. A complete grow tent package may give you some ideas of exactly what you need to purchase, but there are some components that are worth upgrading IMO. You may want to research a different LED or light fixture, and I definitely recommend upgrading the exhaust fans so that they monitor temperature and humidity. (Ac Infininity is nice). Just my 2 cents. Do a lot of reading on LEDs too….don’t want to be underpowered. Best of luck to you….
