Its nice to add liquid molasses a little early, just when the first pistils begin to show...this give the molasses time to form a homeostasis with the soil. Molasses does nothing for plants in and of itself. What Molasses does is feed the microbial life in the soil helping to create a natural microbiome within your growing medium (soil is best) which creates a healthy ecosystem for your plants to then benefit from...again molasses does not make your weed stronger or bigger..it feeds the soil...the soil then..in turn feeds the plants. I premix dry sugar beet molasses into my soil along with another 24 different and organic secret herbs and spices right from the start before I plant. Remember also, if you are using chemical fertilisers molasses won't do anything because the chemicals will burn all natural life from the medium - No nematodes, no healthy enzymes no fungus no nothing - just chemical steroids. If you are organic, molasses is great for improving overall soil quality.
Hope that helps.
