m0useanswered grow question 2 years ago I've grown in coir mixture with worm castings before. I find if you want to add in Dry amendments to coir like gaia green or dr.earth adding some compost and other organics into it helps out a lot and then it can be treated like a soil hybrid grow, allowing the dry amendments to flourish and break down. If you are flushing out the soil all the available nutrition from the amendments will be gone and the bacteria will need to break more of it down, 5.8 PH is low for dry amendments and prevents a lot of the microbes from flourishing. I'd aim for 6.2 at lowest ideal 6.4 for hybrid grow with dry amendments in my experience.
with coir a CaMg supplement is needed but most of the dr.earth and other dry amendments have ample amounts of calcium in them.
HOWEVER Given this is almost all coir grow it might be a good option to switch to a salt based feeding system like GH trio grow/bloom/micro + CaMg or soemthing alone them lines and next run switch over to a coir hybrid where dry amendments will flourish. I'd go no more then 40-50% coir rest compost and perlite castings and other things you wish to add. Coir+peat is a neat option, peat keeps its PH down as coir is almost neutral in PH. There is also different grades of coir and some have not been buffered and have salts in them. Google this to find out what yours is and how to treat it.
One last point, if you plan on growing in soil or soilless more so, investing in a PH pen and EC/PPM pen is a great tool to help problem solve a lot of issues.
Good Luck!
