Hi... I just popped back in here because I saw there were 2 more comments and I wanted to see what others had advised - but it was just you! You probably don't know but this page doesn't function like a chat room... even if you tag someone in a comment, they're not going to be notified. If you want to chat with another grower, you need to use the little triangular paper airplane that's in the bottom right hand corner of every page... you can look up a grower and send them a message. If the little airplane is green, that tells you that someone has sent YOU a message... I'll send you a message when I'm through here so you can see what I mean.
Back to your question, in order to figure out whether they're ready for harvest, you would need to get a much closer look at the trichomes on a bud to see what color they are. If most of them are still clear, it's not ready... if all of them are cloudy, you're close... if all of them are cloudy and some of them are amber, you can chop! The more amber you have, the more relaxation you're going to get along with your head-high... but if more than 40-50% of them are amber, you're in couchlock territory. Get a cheap jewelers loupe to get really close to see what's going on. If you can't get a jewelers loupe, you can zoom in with your camera, take a pic and then zoom in on the pic... And you can put those photos up and ask everybody what they think...
The other, less reliable way of figuring out whether they are ready is to look at the overall color of the plant (the leaves will start to "fade" and lose their green) and look at the color of the pistils.. if more of them are brown than they are white, you're probably pretty close.
Good luck... now I'll go just send you a "Hi!" message so you can see the little airplane turn green - click on it and then click on my profile pic to see my message.
