Only if you are growing in real soil. Plants do not uptake the sugars, but rather they produce different kinds of sugars of their own and then send those back down to the soil. Microbes feed on these sugars, mine the nutrients, and then send the nutes back up to the plant via the root system. The molasses adds extra sugars to the soil for the microbes to consume. I recommend Black Strap molasses because is has increased sulfur content - which cannabis loves. I would add some microbes (bacteria) and also mycorrhiza (fungus) while adding molasses. The mycorrhiza actually feed on the dead microbes and are involved in the food chain that sends the nutrients back up the plant.

It does help actually quite a bit but like anything you can over do it. Another thing you can use is Epsom salt as the main ingredient is magnesium. Or you could buy cal mag supplements. Hope this helps.

This is not an endorsement and not going to drop any product names here, but I happen to use a blend that has blackstrap molasses mixed with the below items. You can check my nutes list for the product name, but I am quite sure there are other equivalent products out there. I used to pick this up locally in Texas, but now have it shipped to me since I use it so much. - Ecklonia Maxima Kelp - Fish Hydrolysate - Blackstrap Molasses - Humic Acid / Fulvic Acid - Select Amino Acids (L-Alanine, L-Argine, L-Aspartic, L-Cystine, L-Glutamic Acid, L-Glycine,   L-Histidine, L-Isoleucine, L-Leucine, L-Lysine, L-Methionine, L-Phenylalanine, L-Proline,   L-Threonine, L-Serine, L-Tryptophan, L-Tyrosine, L-Valine) - Calcium Phosphate - Arcanite - Sugars - Yucca Extract - Tryptic Soy Agar - Plant Hormones, Plant Growth Stimulators and Vitamins (Auxins, Cytokinins, Gibberellins,   Abscissic Acid (ABA), Adenine, Indole Acetic Acid (IAA), Adenosine, Zeatin, A (Carotene),   B1, B12, C, D, E, K, Biotin, Niacin, Choline, Pantothene, Folic Acid, Follinic Acid)

Molasses is pretty well useless and has very little, if any, real benefit to your plants in my opinion (ghetto science). All of my long term fellow cultivators (minimum 25 years experience) and myself (40 years experience) have all experimented extensively with molasses and none of us could say definitively that it actually did anything. Far better to use fulvic acid, humic acid and amino acids, which will boost growth remarkably and are scientifically proven. Mycorrhizae added to your plants' roots will also pay big dividends........."Mykos" from Extrem Gardening works extremely well and in my opinion is THE WONDER ingredient that helped transform my results with the largest single real increase in over all plant health. And I would never grow without the acids either, since discovering their actual real benefits some 30 years ago.
