What are the possible negative effects on plants if the exhaust and intake air of a grow tent is connected with a hose?

Depends on how set it up. Are you sucking in air or pushing it out? This varies on your external climate outside your tent or grow area.

so you want to hook the exhaust duct to the intake duct? then, there'd be absolutely no reason to have either. There would be no gas exchange.
