gdogfunkanswered grow question 5 years ago Hello! This question will have a wide variety of answers, as everyone uses what they think is best. I used to use Miracle Grow soil years ago, but have since learned, that's not a very good soil for growing cannabis. In the last two years I've grown indoors, I started using Fox Farm Happy Frog soil for seedlings/clones from small cups up to 1gal fabric pots. Then when I transplant to 7gal fabric pots, I use Fox Farm Ocean Forest soil. Ocean Forest has more nutrients than Happy Frog, so it's better for more mature plants. As for nutrients, I used to use General Hydroponics Floranova Grow and Floranova Bloom, but have since learned that there are a lot of extra salts in that plant food, as it is a general plant food that is fine for many plants. I now use the Emerald Harvest line of nutrients since they make the food specifically for cannabis. I've noticed much lower PPMs in the nutrient water and the plants are almost always fully green all the way up through harvest. They use plant-based ingredients instead of animal-based ingredients and my plants have really liked the change. Regarding equipment, it really depends on your available grow space. I have a few 3x3 tents using a charcoal filter and exhaust fan. I recommend stepping up from 190cfm to 440cfm and use 6" ducts since some plants are very stinky and the 190cfm fans just can't clean the air enough. The light you choose is the most important part of the equation. I personally love my LEDs from Platinum LED. They are expensive but I'm only drawing 232 watts at the wall and you can see the flowers I'm growing in my diaries using such small watt lights. Sure, there are larger wattage LEDs, but that comes with a cost of energy use. You will need to do some research on the type of lighting your grow space will accommodate. Other needed items include a good pH pen, a TDS meter, an oscillating fan, a hygrometer to see what the temp/humidity levels are, possibly additional clip on fans, a humidifier for dry conditions and maybe a space heater to sit outside the tent in cooler conditions. I highly recommend checking out growweedeasy.com and check out some of their indoor setup recommendations to get you started. Last, but not least, you want quality genetics! Order some good feminized seeds and you'll be good to go! I hope this helps!
