What are your best lessons learned for seedlings in hydroponics?

Do you have a pearl of wisdom for me? This is my first hydroponic grow and I could use a whole necklace! DWC, large air stone, top drip, 8” pot, clay pebbles Do you always leave hours on? A timer? And good grief… why isn’t the fish tank heater working in the 5gal bucket 🙈✌️

Firstly ph is very important so I use silica as my buffer I mix the required amount of silica into the water , then I use ph down to reduce the ph to between 5.7 & 5.9 Then the nutrients go in at the required rate, the ph should remain where you set it before adding the nutes. As for the aquarium heater is it needed? nutrient solutions perform better at colder temps because oxygen is more available. Unless the solution is below 10 degrees celcius I wouldn't use one personally. Next is root care . To keep the roots in top health I reccomend the use of Mycorrhizae as it will help combat root issues. Finally timers are preferable as all plants require a break (darkness) this allows them to recover from any stress they may endure. Hope this helps mate

If u gonna continue PH / EC meters are key Keeping water below 20c.. below 18 even better. A fish heater? I'd gather if it worked in a big tank it shouldn't be an issue for a pot. How are u recirculating the water? If u can't control the water I suggest u get something like hydroguard. Or brush up on H202. Mineral nutrients, nothing organic or enzymes unless u can hold a steady tem

Okay. U top feeding. So I gather u pouring down on top of ur rock wool. U did treat thst before hand right? As they are really high ph and need 2 be treated. Also for a 1st grow and no knowledge of growing id get to reading fast. GrowWeedEasy look up DeepWC growing. Even then only experience In fixing issues will enable u to solve issue or better yet lead u down the right path so u don't make mistakes tat need fixing

You say top drip fed in Dwc? I have done dwc a couple of times and it is a great way to grow but can be risky too. I top fed until the roots had grown through the bottom of net pot. Having the water line in the bucket an inch below the pot. Once the roots hit the water then stop top feeding. Make sure light can’t get to the bucket water. Black bucket with lid. Always have the air pump going. Never let it stop and have a back up as if that goes you literally have hours before serious issues begin. Always keep ph between 5.5-6.2 , setting it at the lower end . It will likely drift up which is good as nutrient pick up will be optimised. Less is more with nutrients. Don’t get caught up in the 10+ bottle regimen. Keep things simple, Have patience . Keep diary updated and engage in the community, gaining knowledge from every source available. Change the water weekly. Anything else you need to ask, myself and many others would be happy to onl
