rain water sounds like a good idea but depends on pollution in your area. It is often acidic and contains heavy metals and shit that's not good despite the mantra that it is "natural." lol. Anyway, to have more control over your pH i'd avoid rain water especially if you live within a couple hundred miles of any urban center, which most of the world's population does. Talk to someone that owns a pool. Rain water is nasty shit that often fucks with chemistry of the pool.
Looks like a nitrogen deficiency on the first one and a potassium issue on the second one.
While they are ready for a transplant unless they've been in that pot for a long time (maybe 2 months or more?) and stopped growing, it's more likely the fertilizer formula than a small pot / rootbound issues. You should up-pot soon, though. figure they can remain in a pot 1 month per gallon size. Going slightly over is no problem, but eventually will get rootbound,
Growing in the window sill isn't providing much DLI, so you don't need as much fertilizer as others who provide significantly more DLI. Something to consider when looking at other people's behaviour.
I think your soil is just running out of it's frtilizer charge and you need to supplement a wider range of nutes than you did before. A full diet instead of just the 2 products you listed.
