Depends.. Some people can be patient, others cannot. The reasons why don't matter.
I don't suffer weak plants. I want a canopy that is even and strong wall-to-wall. I plant 200% of what i need so i can throw out the inevitable portion that have defects or poor growth early on. Some of those can turn out great, but fucks up my schedule - causes greater variance in plant size and other inconveniences, that just make things unnecessarily complicated.
I only do 2 grows/year and need consistency in my results. The reasons why i'd throw it out might be completely irrelevant to your context and feelings on the subject.
Even with culling the weak, i typically end up with 1 sometimes 2 out of 10 that are less than ideal plants. Something like 20% or more of seeds have issues, even if some problems are temporary and it will grow out of it.
