cutting off leaves just makes the plant want to grow more leaves. If the leaf ever becomes a "sink," the plant will shed it. Wait for it to be cannibalized then it'll easily pull off. Might as well get what was stored in the elaf before throwing it away. Other than congestion or a communicable disease etc, let the plant decide which leaves are value-added and which are sinks.
cutting off some cripy necrtoic damage is fine if you have the need to do 'something'. might even have an argument as to why it helps -- dead organic material is always good to remove from the garden to avoid pathogens and pests.
stop misting the plant or wahtever is getting water on the leaves. benefits don't outweight risks and if foliar feeding, better to just learn how to provide proper amounts through the roots, since that;s their evolutionary function. don't gunk up stomata with minerals.
new growth is healthy. what went wrong seems to be isolated and not spreading, so not sure why you want to bail on the grow.
