Is Top-fed DWC schedule ok?

Ive set 5minute schedule topfed DWC to avoid keeping the roots too soggy. My soil is made of 8 rockwool attached together to form a bigger cube and 1 rockwool on top where I placed the initial seed, to protect the roots. What you think? Are roots ok or too small?

Hey growmie I just checked your diary growdiaries.com/diaries/260115-grow-journal-by-mr-rocket for Week 2, those roots look totally fine. In DWC, it can take a minute for things to ramp up, but once those roots fully hit the water and get enough dissolved oxygen, growth usually kicks into high gear. Your 5-minute top-feed cycle sounds good for no, just make sure the rockwool doesn’t stay soaked 24/7. A light drip rhythm helps promote early root stretch. Once the roots really drop, you can usually back off the top feed altogether. Make sure your water temp stays around 18–20°C (64–68°F) and your air stones are giving solid bubble coverage — oxygen makes or breaks early DWC. And keep the EC nice and light early on (around 0.4–0.6), especially if roots are just poking out. She’s looking healthy — you're doing it right. With just a little patience, she’ll start exploding with growth. Hope that helps, shout if you need more.

I use 1/4 of a rockwool cube https://growdoctorguides.com/germinating-seeds-dwc/ supported by hydroton as Scrubbyjimbob suggested

I get it now.You mean the roots in the net pot. They make microbes for DWC which will keep your plants in better health. They will keep the bad microbes away,I think they eat things like pythium, root rot, damping off.Advanced Nutrients do 1 and theres Orca which I think is plant success. They're soil microbes that survive in dwc.

If you are drip emitting to the top then that will keep everything saturated enough until they reach the standing water. Really, now that your roots are out of the cube there is no such thing as 'too soggy', that really only comes into play if you're transitioning into a DWC and have a rockwool cube without a tap or more showing from the bottom, can suffocate them rather easily that way. once you have any root surface area sticking out, you're good to go. I run a very similar setup to this, which has evolved and morphed into just an aerocloner into RDWC - perfect transitioning, perfect cloning, perfect revegging.

I think you would have been better off using just 1 small cube and filling in the rest with hydroton. That much mass could certainly hold onto too much water and become soggy. Top feeding isn't really necessary, especially once roots emerge. The misting they get from your airstone should be sufficient until they reach the solution.

I know very little about DWC but the roots are supposed to sit in the water arent they so what do you mean about them getting too soggy?.You've obviously done your home work so this is a question to you.
