Tip of the bud

Can anyone tell me why the tip of the bud isn’t pinecone shaped like with one of my ladies and instead has a crown like top? Pic #1: pine (4 growths). Pic #2: crown Auto: Moby dick. Week 11. Not sure if this makes sense

Some Times a Strainspecific foxtailing ist the posibility of a more sativa content in genetics. They Look great and i think it is in that way with the different Look of the Buds. 💚✌️ Best regards.

Could be genetics. Could be related to light both too much and too little can cause foxtailing. A knobby crown that's still dense and well-developed is probably too much light. If extra leafy and airy, could be too little light. And, genetics is always lurking as a cause you can't really prove with your eyes, but can be a strong possibility of being a factor, too. Neither of these look llke 'too little' light is the cause. So, 2 options remain. knobby hat fills in well is fine. A loose structure with a ton of lose spirals of calyxes is tolerable to unacceptable depending on severity. Can always make some bubble hash or edibles with it, but if stemmy and loose it'll be meh smoke that's heavy on small twigs and therefore harsher than it could be. So, the first picture looks fine, the second looks a bit larfy. I'd wager in addition to potential genetic causes, these colas are getting slightly too much light at the top, and the 2nd picture might also have a genetic predisposition to it. I've got more than 1 knobby bud this grow cycle. A couple have too much foxtailing for my tastes, but the colas are well-constructed despite a few spirals and the knobby dense ones not negatively effected. I could also cut off the skinny spirals on the couple that have them, but if they are dense enough i'll just ignore.

Hey there that’s a great question don’t think I have seen that one b4. Honestly small amount of the shape of the buds is from light intensity but really it’s just genetics. Seeds that even come from the exact same plant still can look completely different from each other

different genetics. different seeds stock. different plants. even the same pack of seeds can have variation like this.

Foxtailing... not really a good or bad thing.... Some strains do this naturally (and it is being actively bred for mostly due to increased surface area for washing/sifting) but you can also so it with your environment or stress. I have even heard folks say being too N rich in flower can lead to foxtailing "Will still smoke ok, less dense structure can lead to a lower overall THC concentration per unit of bud" - If the density is lower then the concentration calculation might prove this to be false. My issue with this type of bud morphology is that lower density leads to less protection for trichomes during the dry.

Looks like it foxtailed. Normally a response from extreme environment. Too hot too intense light. That's just how the buds have grown and there isn't much you can do about it. Will still smoke ok, less dense structure can lead to a lower overall THC concentration per unit of bud. So it's something you want to avoid but so long as it's not entire crop I wouldn't stress about it too much.

Hey growmie, all normal, some plants just stack weird like that, especially autos or certain phenotypes. Not every bud ends up like a textbook pinecone, sometimes they crown out a bit or get that open top look. Might be slight light stress or just genetics doing their thing, nothing to worry about, doesn’t affect quality at all. If the rest of the plant looks healthy I’d just let her finish up and not overthink it, mother nature different styles sometimes. Hope that helps a bit growmie, good luck with the harvest ✌️🍀❤️
