Only thing that works is buying good growmedium. Then start giving Nematodes from the beginning and you will never have them in your tent. As you're having problems right now, take a good amount of nematodes and and repeat it after 1 week. Will take 2 weeks and the earth is gnat larves free. Keep the glued traps for the adult flying gnats. NEVER BUY EARTH FROM ANY HARDWARE STORE TO SAVE SOME BUCKS. You only end up trying to get rid of fungus gnats.

side note -- defoliating like that is a huge negative for the plant. all you have is small, immature leaves that are less than ideal for light absorption and with so few the plant will be less resilient to any imbalance of nutrients provided. defoliation for the sake of defoliation is bro science nonsense. Ther can be good reasons to remove a leaf, but to do so en masse is rarely justified

Bti - in north america the brand is summit and it's called mosquito bits or mosquito dunks - slgithtly different use. While it is true that the adult gnats don't cause damage, the larva eat your roots. They are absolutely something you should worry about. It will take a couple weeks for something like Bti to get control of it. you can use bti pre-emptively. Gants often come with the soil from the store. I use bti the first month or so. I only stop if i don't see any gnats.. even if i see 1 or 2, i continue the use. Never have a gnat problem. Easily avoided and it's relatively cheap to do. If you water to frequently, this will exacerbate the problem. A good wet-dry cycle of top soil helps avoid it, but when they are infested at the store or during transportation, there's no avoiding it with good watering habits.. sticky traps can kill off the adults... pyrethrines can kill on contact, but don't use that or basically anything else in flower. bti is safe in flower it's just a top-dress you water-in or a dunk in your reservoir. it is a bacteria. It different subspecies has been used on teh world's food crops for a century, so it is safe.

BTi or nematodes, I've used both. both eradicated them. Easy as that. NO sticky traps. no sand no water cycle changes just a single additives that is a spores/parastic worm and bam no more gnats.

If they are fungus gnats they won't harm anything, just annoying as hell. They came in my bag of soil one time. Some disagree that they can be in purchased soil but it's fact. I have a controlled space and never had a gnat infestation before that bag of soil. They started appearing right after first good watering and was trapping 100's a week on yellow sticky pads. You can cover top of soil with Diatomaceous earth to curb it some but has to be redone after every watering.

Hey , fungus gnats love wet soil, hot and humid climate so try and avoid that. I'll tell you 2 tricks but go easy on the first one because it can harm the plant. Just add very little neem oil with the next watering and it will slow them down a lot if not kill them especially all the larvae living in the soil. Then just spray neem oil normally on the top of the soil every week to get completely rid of them. The other trick I always love to do before every grow especially since I store it outside, is to pour a kettle of boiling water to kill any pest that might be living there. good luck
