Hey RX1966 👋 — good question! 🌿 Here's the science-backed answer: Don’t rush to remove fan leaves too early — they play a critical role in the plant’s health: ✅ Why you should keep fan leaves (at least for now): They are sugar factories — they feed your buds during the stretch and early flowering. They act as nutrient reservoirs. If there's a deficiency, the plant will pull from them first. They help regulate temperature and humidity around the plant. They offer natural sun-shielding to prevent light burn (especially in outdoor or intense light setups). 🚫 When to remove them: You can consider selective defoliation only when: A fan leaf is blocking light or airflow to bud sites. The plant is very bushy, with stagnant air and high humidity risks. You're entering mid-flower (week 3–4) and want to increase light penetration and airflow. The leaf is yellowing, damaged, or shaded and not productive anymore. 🔧 Tips if you choose to defoliate: Start slow: 2–4 leaves per day max. Always cut close to the stem with clean scissors. Prioritize lower fan leaves or those deep in the canopy with no access to light. 💡 Summary: Leave them for now unless they’re blocking light or airflow. Let the plant use them as energy sources during stretch and early flower. Think of them as solar panels — don’t remove your power source too soon. If you send a pic, I can give more personalized advice. Happy growing 🌱 — s_herbly on GrowDiaries

Ich entferne die Blä1x 5-7 Tage vor Umstellung auf 12/12 & 1x 20 Tage (circa) nach der Umstellung. Dann erst wieder, wenn sich die gelben Blätter ohne Widerstand lösen lassen…

https://www.cocoforcannabis.com/community/photons_corner/to-defoliate-or-not-to-defoliate/ Read this... and if you still want to defoliate... go for it, lol. There's no point in a conversation if you want to follow magic and conjecture of bro-science. Bro science can sound "right," but is really just a poor extrapolation while ignoring existing knowledge and/or not supporting wild hypothesis with any evidence. "Sounds good" is as far as bro science ever gets, and it shouldn't even sound good if you have a bit of education (formal or not) under your belt on the subjects. We can't all learn everything. Sometimes we rely on those that learn about cars or plants etc... no one person has time to learn it all and this should not cause any feelings of insecurity, lol. If you don't crowd the canopy, there's never a reason to remove leaves. If you have a ton of congestion and physically overlapping leaves, this is the fault of training or over-growing. You may need to remove a leaf or two in this instance, but the real fix is simply not putting yourself into that position in the future. Even shielded leaves are value-added to the plant. They are not "sinks." If the plant doesn't shed them, keep those lower leaves, too. Leaves are 'lungs' and storage facilities. Removing shielded leaves is not value-added, either.

Hey Bud, i think your plant is not too full, you could remove some at the top, so the light will get through your plant way better. But other then that i wouldnt defoliate. The plant needs the energy from the fan leaves. Have fun Growing :)

No need to ever remove leaves at all.............unless you are having MASSIVE issues controlling humidity during flowering. Just remember.........less leaves = less energy being made = less growth = less potential. You should really only ever remove leaves that have gone yellow........"defoliation" is not a required "technique" when growing cannabis!

Only for good reason ie. bud coverage, shaded fan leave- mostly at the bottom , air circulation, fan leave resting on top of other leaves causing sweating and mold issues... There are a million different reasons too remove and not to remove so choose wisely and the best of luck..

no, your plants are not nearly large enough or dense enough for that to be a thing. just because its a tech does not mean you should do it or need it.

Hey 👋 Only remove the fan leaves that do not get any light, or the ones that shade your buds. The fan leaves save the nutrients. When your plants get hungry and can not take enough from your soil, they will start feeding on them.

Leave them. Less power for them to grow if you do.
