Drying process and the change of odor through the dry

I agree with numbers on this. Control your Temps and RH and its not an issue. Bad smells can be sour like or almost bitter. but not always as some weed smells like vomit or cat piss. Small bits of fresh air exchange when RH spikes is good. My ideal is anywhere from 18-22c and 40-55% RH Takes about 7-14 days to dry out depending on how dry my room is and how full the tent is. I use my tent to dry after I chop everything and remove the growing medium and place outside.

You get a strong smell of the dankness when you trim, hang it up it feels like it loses its smell, you will get worried and it might even smell like hay, that's ok, as ammoniacal nitrogen breaks down it volatizes into a gas that can smell nasty, that's good sign that nitrogen is being drawn out the plant and back into the air. It's normal to worry, but it's more about how she feels when you squeeze a bud you can feel that soft core then you know she is crammed with oils and resins a wave of stank hits you. It's like a dogshit that's has been sitting for a while and NY God it smells 10x worse when you step on it. Buds are kinda like dogs hit in that sense. 4,5,6 weeks into the cure it will come back to peak smell.if well looked after.

During the drying process, the smell will definitely change that’s totally normal. In the first few days, it can smell a bit grassy because the chlorophyll is still breaking down. Around day 5–7, the fresh weed smell starts to fade and a sweet, earthy or fruity scent slowly comes back that’s a good sign If it ever smells musty, sour or like ammonia, that means humidity is too high and mold could start. Just keep it around 18–20°C and 55–60% RH, with gentle air movement you’ll be rewarded with a clean, strong aroma after curing

if your temps and rh are good.. it's all good. yes, some phenos' odor will evolve more than others. bacterial or mold growth smells off.. it's kinda hard to explain, lol. you've smellt mildewy bathrooms or lockerrooms before? similar but different. when i have flashbacks to a biology lab walk-in incubator, i know. if you are controlling the temp and on this topic more importantly the RH, you really don't have much to worry about. The surface dries faster than the moisture from the interior can move to teh exterior... probably the easiest mistake is sealing them up before they have dried enough... just takes time to learn the feel of it... density of buds impacts the whole process too, so it's never 100% the same as last time, but it should be close. if you seal them up and rh spikes or the outside of the buds feel soft, again, then you probably have to take them out for more drying.

Smells like straw before you touch or squeeze it.. You don't want a strong ammonia smell
