Plants release water vapor and exchange gases, (night). When there is no airflow, the water vapor released by the leaf accumulates in a thin, still layer of air immediately surrounding the leaf surface. This layer becomes saturated with moisture, reaching 100% relative humidity. Providing even a small amount of air circulation, such as with a fan, helps move this humid air away and restores the necessary concentration gradient, allowing the plant to continue its normal functions.
Failure to do so will begin the countdown. Bacteria need three essential things to multiply rapidly: Food, Moisture, and the right Temperature, leaves provide essential water, sugars, and organic compounds like plant exudates that leak from the leaf surface. These are a primary food source for many types of bacteria, you must ensure there is airflow, or that happens.
