Hey buddy hope all is great my friend Pollen 🙏 Pollen chucking is simply making seeds by crossing plants without a clear goal, selection process, or follow-up—often just “this plant had pollen, let’s see what happens.” Good plant breeding is intentional: you start with a goal (traits you want), select parents carefully, make controlled crosses, grow out and evaluate the offspring, then select again over generations for stability, vigor, and expression. In short: pollen chucking makes seeds; breeding develops plants. Growers Love my friend hope this helps 👊👊👊

Since no breeder is making use of modern technology, it's splitting hairs to delineate between what the pros do and a home grower. Anybody can selectively breed. Anybody can have similar results if they are selecting from a similar sample of plants to find an excellent pairing. Anyone can cross breed multiple candidates and work backward from their offspring to select the best 2 plants to provide the best seeds of the bunch. This is more a matter of resources and money than any special ability to be proud of. It's 1800s methodology, lol. Modern knowledge and technology affords for a more sophisticated way, but the people responsible for providing seeds are too obstinate to make use of it. Not much motivation to do anything differently if consumers also are too obstinate to demand better / more. What's also hilarious is that it would greatly reduce time and money to produce an intended set of traits in a batch of seeds even if their is some initial investment hurdles. Gotta hire people with education and experience as well as buy lab equipment that's quite expensive. NEed to map out various relevant traits in order to accurately predict outcomes based on genotype pairing of parent plants. Initial sunk costs (a "constant") approach zero in the long-run... just good math and solid business understanding. using these words as insults is just indicative of someone that doesn't really know what they are talking about. LOL ... they project positives onto established breeders that are more about being in the right place at the right time than any actual unique abilities or methods. it's a cult of personality.

The difference is in the grower knowledge in genetics laws of inheritance. Pollen chucking is done regardless any traits you want to lock down and stabilize. Now these days, in 2026, a good breeding program requires a good knowledge in genetics… and choosing to dedicate all your studies to the holy Mary-Jane 😊 You will start by father Gregor Mendel works and will finish to learn that only god can recognize every lineage from the first to the last generation. Then it requires proper stable genetics to start your mapping with. Like wild landrace’s selected for their unique traits. This will be the hardest part to get trust me bro 😎

Well there can be some debate with that. Pollen chucking refers to non selective plant breeding or natural selection. So one could argue that natural selection is "good plant breeding" While others could argue that selective selections of the best plants is "good plant breeding techniques. I think each person chooses what they believe to be the best technique

Chucking IMO usually has a humble-ness or a non-serious way of approaching breeding. These days it is either a badge of honor or a put down, rarely used inbetween. Good breeding has many forms. Folks that are simply preserving something they find unique is good breeding. Folks coming from universities with phds and a network of 50 facilities at their disposal, doing true pharma grade product profile metrics to quantitatively proof they have found a unicorn on their 1000 plant by 50 facility grows...that is surely good breeding. Even folks doing reversals with care and intent, IMO, are good breeders. Surely if you're doing some filial maintenance and are past F2, then you're likely doing good breeding. Idk. Fun question though.

Was ist Pollenwerfen? Plant Breeding is the genetic improvement of crop plants for human benefit through the study and application of multiple scientific disciplines. ich hoffe, dass ich dir damit helfen konnte 😎 Viel Glück
