Harvest day is approaching... tips to avoid ruining the flavor and potency ❤️

I'm entering week 8 in 2 days. I was wondering when this Nicole Kush will be ready. And above all, how can I ensure that the flavor and potency are preserved perfectly, considering that my room is 20/22 degrees. Lens video trichomes https://jumpshare.com/s/ic44B8XenEdbd7Q2xWSw

Salam BunnyBud! 👋 We meet again, Habibi! She is looking absolutely incredible for Week 8! 🏆 Let's talk about the Modern Engineering of preserving Terpenes (the oils that give your plant its flavor and smell). Terpenes are highly volatile, meaning they evaporate into the air when it gets too warm or when the plant dries too fast. If you want to preserve that Kush flavor perfectly, you have to avoid the dreaded "Hay Smell." Here is the protocol: 1. The "Dry Trim" vs. "Wet Trim": ✂️ I have to respectfully disagree with @JVKdopegrow. If your room is 20-22°C, a "wet trim" will cause your buds to dry in 3 to 4 days. If a plant dries that fast, the chlorophyll gets trapped inside, and it will smell like freshly cut grass/hay forever. The Fix: Do a Whole Plant Hang / Dry Trim. Chop the plant at the base and hang the entire thing upside down. Leave all the sugar leaves on! Those leaves will act like a blanket, slowing down the moisture loss. 2. The 60/60 Rule (Your Environment): 🌡️ The golden standard for drying is 60°F (15°C) and 60% Humidity for 10-14 days. Since your room is 20-22°C, it is a bit warm. To prevent a fast dry, you must keep your Humidity right at 60%. Do NOT put a fan blowing directly on the hanging buds; just keep the air circulating in the room. 🌬️ 3. When to Chop: Week 8 is the start of the window. Keep checking those trichomes. When 100% of the clear heads turn milky white 🥛, and you see a few amber ones starting to pop up on the actual bud (not the leaves), chop her down! Patience in the dry room is the secret to top-shelf flavor. You’ve got this! 🚀 Happy Growing! 💚

They look like theyll have more than a week to go.Probably 10-14 days.Drought stress really improves the terpenes.During this time I like to really stress my plants almost to the point of wilting but not quite.Instead of watering 2ltrs every other day its more like twice weekly or less, and my plants are 4-5 times bigger so you could leave yours for 4-5dasys between watering.Google drought stress leading up to harvest.Im sure youll find lots of good info.I mostly harvest a few pound so more often than not bits are left behind and its those bits that get left behind that end up the most sticky and smelly and its due to the stress they go through.Theyve died in the pot.

20/22 isn't ideal, but it won't ruin anything. If humidity is ~60% it will still take at least 7-8 days or maybe even 9-10. I'm around 65-68F (~18-20) and humidifier keeps it 57-60%. IT takes 14 days to dry with wet trim and cut done to similarly sized buds laid out on a mesh rack. 68-74F won't ruin anything. It will shave a little time of fthe dry, You can do other things to prolong the dry, if you wish. Dry entire branches or entire plants. do a dry trim and leave the foliage will also slow it down. i don't know if the stated cause and effect is the real context, but there's definitely variety. I've had some plants dry in 7 days and be the tastiest bud you'll ever have. For decades peope were adamant that flushing at end of harvest helped reduce minerals in flower - turned out to not be true. Beware of anecdotal beliefs regarding the microscopic. OFten, it's never been tested to show it is actually occurring or ust someone made up with 'common sense' using human senses not resoled enough to make observations necessary to draw such conclusions. I've encountered that sort of context numerous times over the years and slowly, those things get proven wrong, but it takes a lot more effort to prove a hypothesis than to whimsically make one up. Then, if it gets repeated enough, becomes a common belief despite a lack of evidence to support it. It's okay to admit we are not sure about something our senses cannot resolve. working in a top-down way leads to mistakes and false conclusions, and that's okay too. I don't think 'curing' is the same as it is for tobacco. The molecuels that get us high and taste good aren't going through molecular changes. Maybe, something is breaking down. you'd need some fancy lab equipment to show that occurring. human eyes cannot do it. Regardless of real cause and effect, low and slow does seem to be the best way to do it... it may not be highly resolved, but it seems to lead to more consistency. I'd bet that most of the causes of bad outomes is from overfeeding and impacting flower growth as it happens, since there is no excretion system for such things, otherwise. That's just a guess.

Still 2-3 weeks to go. Once there are 98-99% brown pistils/hairs, you will be entering the harvest zone. Low and slow for drying and in complete darkness, and a good cure is key...3-4 weeks minimum. Dry trimming is better in my experience. Wet trimming means all the moisture must escape through the buds instead of the leaves, which can degrade terpenes and THC. The leaves also protect the trichomes from damage, especially if you only trim when about to consume. Why not try a sample of each method and see what works for you?

Beautiful plant! I prefer a dry final week and a wet trim to lessen any chance of mold or bud rot issues. This also requires a shorter drying time. One more trim, then into the jar for a month with Boveda pack. Burp daily (initially) then taper it back. But these are my limited experiences. Good luck!
