What ph should I be watering?

My soil is Paonia Soil - the bomb 50/50. It’s half coco peat and half sphagnum peat. The only thing I added was perlite. Using dr earth 4-4-4 and 3-9-4. Is 6.5 ph correct or should it be lower? I have no issues or deficiencies, but I’m 2nd guessing myself. New grower. THX

Hi For your mix, 6.5 is good. By staying between 6.2 and 6.5, you ensure the survival of the microbes necessary to break down your powder fertilizers (4-4-4 and 3-9-4). visually Your plants are magnificent. The green is uniform, no burnt ends, and the structure is solid. The golden rule: “If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.” Your plant visually confirms to you that your pH of 6.5 suits it perfectly. Since you are using dry organic fertilizers (Dry Amendments), remember that: Humidity is key: Unlike pure coconut which can be left to dry a little more, your soil must remain slightly moist so that the bacteria continue to "eat" the fertilizer. These fertilizers take approximately 1 to 2 weeks before they are available to the plant. Stop doubting, you have found the “sweet spot” for this hybrid blend. Continues to 6.5. Have a good evening

if its not broken, don't fix it. Living soils manage their own PH well. but if 6.5 is working. keep it at 6.5.

Hey Garden-of-weeden! You’re actually right on the money. For a mix that is essentially 100% peat-based (coco peat and sphagnum), a pH of 6.5 is a great target, especially since you are using Dr. Earth organic amendments. Organics rely on soil microbes to break down the nutrients, and those microbes are happiest in that 6.2 to 6.8 range. If you were running purely synthetic nutrients in coco, you'd want to go lower, but with your specific setup, 6.5 is the "sweet spot" for nutrient availability. Since your plants look healthy and have no deficiencies, definitely don't overthink it you're doing a great job! Happy Growing Growmie🌱

With those ratios, i'd wager you will eventually see a problem with low-K, but obviously need to see it happen before reacting. If there's enough k provided, then probably too much n or p results. - Take notes. adjust fertilization based on what you see... can only guess at this stage. If you were using soilless nutes, i'd recommend ~6 pH, but if treating it like soil, 6.3-6.8 is what you want.. more about the type of moelcules delivering the nutrients. Nothing is locked out at 6.5. it'll even improve N solubility by comparison. If the ingredients of those fertilizers are all 100% plant available upon dilution, shoot for ~6.

6.5 is on the high side for your mix coco-peat blends with sphagnum typically prefer 5.8–6.2. The reason: sphagnum naturally buffers lower, and coco loves acidic conditions (better nutrient availability). At 6.5, you might start locking out micronutrients down the road, especially iron and manganese. Since you’re using organic dry amendments (Dr. Earth), the buffer is more forgiving than hydro, so 6.5 won’t crash your grow. But if you want optimal, dial it back to 6.0–6.2 on your next watering.Your plants look healthy though no deficiency signs yet so you’re in the safe zone. Just keep an eye on new growth. If you see yellowing between leaf veins (iron deficiency) or purple stems later, that’s your signal to drop pH slightly. New grower move: you’re already thinking about pH tuning. Most beginners ignore it completely. You’re on the right track.
