How do you guys measure the age of your plants? Does week 1 start the day of germination or on day 7? If its day 7, do you start week 1 nutes on that day or week 2 nutes? At this point im just going to go off of days.

I used to count germination and week 1 of veg basically the same week.. but now I'm allowing 1 week for germination by itself, then starting my week of veg regardless of the size of the plant as long as it has sprouted. usually gives me about 3 days of light in germination mode. which i think is a good representation. but what others said makes sense too. as long as it works for you

The first week begins for me as soon as the plants have their first true pair of leaves.🙌

Great questions and the answers I'm sure vary by person. For me: - Day 1 is the day the seed is set for germination. This ensures I can calculate the total grow time at the end of the grow. - Veg Day 1 is when I transplant the seedling - I use a manual watering method. Nutrient use before Day 14 of Veg is some risky business but can payoff - Flower Day 1 starts the day I switch lights. Outdoors this is practically impossible to pin down - I count each day of Flower up to harvest but the real number of days seldom matches the flower's optimum Week 1, 2, 3 ... maturity rate. Outdoors I'll often see 3 weeks elapse before a "Week 1" flower appears Enjoy the grow Take it slow

Most growers count age from the day the seedling pops above the soil, not from when the seed goes into water or paper towel. So day 1 is the first day it breaks ground. That means days 1–7 are week 1, days 8–14 are week 2, etc. So if you’re following a feed chart, you’d use week 1 nutes during those first 7 days, then move to week 2 feed on day 8. But honestly, don’t get too locked into the schedule because plants don’t all grow at the same speed. A plant on day 14 can still be small enough to only need light feedings. Going by exact days from sprout is honestly the easiest and least confusing way to track everything 👊👍

just count from germination day as day 1. So if your seed pops on Monday, that’s day 1. Day 7 is the following Monday, and that’s when you hit week 2. Simple as that. For nutes, don’t start feeding until the seedling is a bit established usually around day 10–14, so early week 2. Some wait until week 3 depending on the medium. If you’re in a rich medium (like soil with nutrients already in it), you can wait longer. If you’re in coco or a light mix, you’ll need to feed sooner. The bottom line though? Don’t stress the exact day. Just pick a system and stick with it. Count from germination day, call week 1 days 1–7, week 2 days 8–14, and you’re golden. Way easier than overthinking it. At week 8 now, you’re way past the semantics anyway. Just keep doing what you’re doing. The counting method doesn’t really matter as long as you’re tracking consistently. You’re clearly on top of things already.

Week 1 VEG = Seeing Tap Root coming out of seed, After 7 days ( First Week Done ) I Upload the 1. VEG Week. But have seen a Lot counting First Week After seeing First leaves etc. I would rather count as soon as possible than as late as possible

Hi! I measure the age like this: Day 1 is when the plant pops out of the soil. From Day 1 to Day 3, it's a seedling. Week 1 starts on the 7th day of the plant's life. Some people start counting as soon as they put the seed in the dirt, but this way is the most accurate. You begin Week 1 at 7 days old. I wish you a great grow, and your Gorilla is looking beautiful! I've grown it too. Good luck!"

It is totally normal to be a bit confused about this at first! Most growers start counting "Day 1" of Week 1 the moment the seedling breaks through the soil and shows its first set of round cotyledon leaves. The germination period (when the seed is just cracking in a paper towel or underground) usually isn't counted in the weekly schedule. If you are on Day 7, you have just completed Week 1 and are heading into Week 2. Regarding nutrients, it is always better to read the plant rather than just the calendar; most seedlings don't need any nutrients for the first 1–2 weeks if they are in a decent soil mix. If you do start feeding on Day 7, you'd typically follow a "Week 2" or "Seedling" strength on your chart, but always start with a lower dose to see how they react. Going by total days is a great way to stay organized, but remember that the plant will move into its next phase (like flowering) when it's ready, regardless of the number on the calendar. Happy Growing Growmie🌱

Whatever makes sense to you.. i only count time after it accrues. That's what makes sense to me. It's more about familiarity and consistency. N or N-1, is irrelevant as long as you know which it is. nutes won't fit into that increment anway unless you only water 1/week? You might do something different at start of week and need a correction later in the week, lol. So, don't worry too much about it. If you need a precise log of your fertiliation over time, you'll need to do it on your own as the format here won't do it well. A spreadsheet with date, dosage, volume of water etc would be what you need. Otherwise, your base procedure/dosage for that timeframe is plenty good enough for a GD diary. or, you may not flip to flower exactly at the start of a week... So, i don't categorize a week as flower phase until the majority of that week is on a 12/12 schedule, but the 'week' is always accurate to total days above ground. Week 10 is always day 70 above ground for my diaries. (some exceptions due to my availability to take pictures or just being lazy, of course). I always note when i flip and give 2 different counts in the weekly comment - "Total days above ground" and "total flower nights" Germination week is just until i get most of the sprouts above ground, then week one of vege is 7days after some middle ground for that range of sprout times. That's also a bit of a grey area you can't fully account for given GD's format, unless you make a diary per seed. As long as you know what you do, it's "correct." It's a tool for you to use. Don't worry about anything else. Consistency is the key for anyone looking at your diary, too.

I have been working toward a consistent method of counting and haven’t perfectly followed it in all my diaries, but lately I’ve settled on the following: Day 1 = sprouted = the day I see a little seedling instead of just the medium Germination week 00 = days 1 - 7 (and include photos and text concerning pre-germination methods) Veg week 01 = days 8 - 14 Veg week 02 = days 15 -21 Etc…incrementally always 7-day periods. Change veg to flower the first period flowers appear.
