First DWC grow with Plagron Hydro went well. Now using Canna Aqua with the same water and conditions, but roots look much worse. Both plants in the video are affected, and they are different strains. Could Canna Aqua be the cause?

In DWC the roots can turn color because of the nutrients. I’m not familiar with Canna Aqua, but if your roots aren’t slimy or smelly, the new root growth is white, and your plant growth is not affected, you’re in good shape. To be on the safe side I’d use Hydroguard to avoid any possibility of root rot to begin with. I also grow DWC.

The root system looks unhealthy. I’ve dealt with root rot like that before; in my case, Hesi PowerZyme and Hesi Root helped—provided the pH is between 5.5 and 6.5. Naturally, a 2–3W aerator should be running constantly. Happy growing!

Actually, it shouldn't be like that; both are hydro or even special nutrients for soilless systems... what temperature is your water? Are you using disinfectants like H2O2, etc.? Your water looks quite foamy in the first picture..? Are you using a root booster? Given the size of the plant, I find the root system to be quite sparse...
