@00110001001001111O To be specific, Hydroton is a name brand of LECA by Mother Earth...which is as ubiquitous as Band Aids and Kleenex for superseding the actual product with the brand name in the culture.

"Expanded Clay" is the same thing.. .leca balls, hydroton, expanded clay, clay balls Lightweight Expanded Clay Aggregate - LECA - i never looked it up before.

In your diary set up, go to "substrates", then click on "custom" and add your clay pebbles that way.

Greetings, buddy! Many prefer to use substrates that retain moisture like coconut fiber or peat moss. If it's possible to grow in expanded clay, you just need to calibrate the watering. It would have to be daily and add micro-pulses throughout the day. For example, instead of watering once every two days, you would need to do 12 or 20 micro-waterings a day. We use coconut fiber with daily watering, 8 pulses of 5 minutes each day, and it's excellent. You have to calculate the moisture retention of the substrate to schedule your waterings.
