@Mia_BIOTABS, Thanks mate :raised_hands: Yeah, Autopot + BioTabs really is a cheat code
I’m running a true “just add water” setup, designed specifically for bottom-fed Autopots and long, stable organic runs.
:wrench: Setup
3 × 15 L Autopots with AirBase
Effective substrate volume: ~43 L
:seedling: Substrate Mix (total amounts)
Coco Perlite 70/30 – 22.5 L
Lightmix – 10.5 L
Worm humus – 5.25 L
Zeolite (0.5–1 mm) – 2.7 L
Vermiculite (2–4 mm) – 1.2 L
:heavy_plus_sign: Amendments
BioTabs – 2 tabs per pot
Startrex – 3–4 tbsp (~80 g)
Silicium Flash – 2–3 tbsp (~50–60 g)
Mycorrhiza + Trichoderma – 1–2 g per planting hole
:droplet: Water & Ca:Mg Balance
Epsom salt (MgSO₄·7H₂O) – 0.15 g per L of water (used only when moistening the mix)
Why Mg / Ca:Mg ratio:
After checking my tap water analysis, calcium levels are relatively high while magnesium is quite low.
For coco-based organic substrates, a Ca:Mg ratio of around 3:1 to 4:1 is ideal for steady nutrient uptake.
Adding a small dose of magnesium (Epsom salt) corrects that imbalance and keeps chlorophyll production, aroma development, and nutrient flow consistent throughout the run.
:brain: Why this setup works
Highly oxygenated root zone (Coco/Perlite + AirBase)
Consistent moisture without waterlogging (Autopot capillary feed)
Buffered pH and nutrient release (Zeolite + Humus)
Enhanced microbial activity from day one (Startrex + Mycorrhiza + Trichoderma)
Fully compatible with the “water-only” Autopot strategy
I let the mix rest 12–24 h before planting so the microbes activate and the medium stabilizes.
After that, it’s literally water only in the reservoir :droplet:
Perfect for long photoperiod runs – and works great with autos too.
Happy growing :herb::fire:
