I haven’t done a proper scrog yet, but had a few plants, that were only topped once, that I feel would’ve been great in a scrog. I get what you’re saying though. Probably not worth the extra time to recover then start growing again after topping.

<span class="link_user">@MrHyde</span>, only the lateral branches grow once topped. It&#039;s counterproductive to top a plant that you want a bunch of lateral branches to form. HSTing the top not only switches the vertical growth to lateral growth, but also acts as a whole nother branch that will keep spitting out more branches. Topping a plant you are going to scrog adds on a lot more time than you think. Take a look at my &quot;gdp for reals&quot; diary. You can see the difference it makes over weeks of growth.

<span class="link_user">@ernest_twwg</span>, I like to top once when doing a scrog because the plant automatically starts to grow more outwards instead of upwards. Topping once won’t lose any branches and will only extend the veg time by a few days. To do a proper scrog takes some time to fill the entire screen, depending on your footprint.
