Interview With Guru DreamIT

Hello growers! We are super excited to present our little chat with Guru @DreamIT — a grower who harvests multiple plants every other day. The guru of perpetual harvests! He tells us how he manages to grow loads of buds. If you have a question or two, don’t forget to use the comment section and DreamIT will be happy to answer them!

1. Question: Hello DreamIT! We are very excited to conduct this interview today. Your profile tells us a lot about your skills. Can you tell us a bit about yourself? What does your name stand for?

Answer: First of all, I would like to thank you for this interview. I have been absent from Growdiaries for the past few months. Indeed, it’s very gratifying to know that what I had started to build has not been lost. Incredibly, it instead continues to grow, develop and improve. This interview encourages me to continue with my page and my work in general, THANK YOU!

Coming to my name, DreamIT is a simple nickname to remember. I wanted a name that represented the dream of a young Italian who wanted to work with cannabis in all its forms, in a place where it is not allowed to do so, fighting against everyday life but looking continually head held high towards his dream. It’s more like a rebel who fights for what he believes in, despite having the system against him. There's something magical about the whole process, and that's why I wanted a logo that captured that sense of wonder and joy.

I chose a unicorn as a logo because it represents a symbol of freedom, strength, enchantment, and childlike wonder for me. These are the emotions I feel when I grow and smoke weed. 

2. Question: Why did you start growing cannabis?

Answer: I've been growing weed for over 15 years now, and it all started as a fun activity with my friends. We quickly realized that good weed runs out pretty fast, so I decided to start growing indoors almost 3 years ago. Quarantine had me feeling pretty bored. Plus, the prices of weed on the street were way too high and the quality was seriously lacking. 

Keeping my health and wallet in mind, I took matters into my own hands and decided to cultivate plants again, despite the risks involved.

Let me tell you, growing weed at home is a never-ending journey of discovery. You get to try out new flavors, new colors, and new cultivation methods, and you open yourself up to a world without limits. Even today, we're discovering new characteristics, new medicinal uses, and new variants that continue to amaze me. Not only do I get to save money, but I'm also taking care of my health by growing high-quality cannabis.

So yeah, that's a little bit about my journey with growing weed. It's a hobby that has become a passion, and I'm always excited to see what new surprises and discoveries lie ahead. 

3. Question: How has cannabis helped you?

Answer: Honestly, I've been trying to find a downside to cannabis for a while now, but I just can't seem to find any. For me, cannabis has been nothing but beneficial in every aspect of my life. Whether it's my health, my finances, my social life, my work, or just my everyday routine, cannabis has been there for me and helped me out in so many ways.

I could go on and on about all the ways that cannabis has improved my life — I've got hundreds, maybe even thousands of examples — but I don't want to bore you to death. Suffice it to say that cannabis has been a real game-changer for me, and I'm grateful for all the ways that it has helped me out over the years. If you haven't tried it yet, I highly recommend giving it a shot — who knows, it might just change your life too!

4. Question: Do you remember how and why you started using Growdiaries?

Answer: I remember it like it was yesterday (in fact it wasn't long ago). I was stuck in quarantine, and finding something to smoke was practically impossible. So, I did what any resourceful person would do — I bought a cheap lamp from Amazon and scoured the internet for plastic bags, vases, and other cheap necessities to set up my own little grow operation.

I converted an old closet into my growing space, and planted four Amnesia plants (I can't even remember which seed bank they came from). I had a cheap pink LED light, some all-mix soil, a fan, and a whole lot of paranoia — that pink light made my room look like a nightclub, and I was worried that the neighbors would catch on to what I was up to.

After a few weeks of waiting and watering in boredom, I started searching the internet for information on the plants I was growing, and that's when I stumbled upon something amazing. I found a detailed website with all kinds of information about cannabis growing — characteristics of strains, photos, advice, and comments from other users who had already cultivated it. I started visiting diaries and seeing amazing plants grown by people from all over the world, and I was blown away.

Growing up, I had always thought that farming was something to be kept secret and carried with you until you died. But here, on this website, I found a community of millions of people just like me — “criminals and lawbreakers”, enthusiastic to share their plants, their crops, their impressions, and their experiences with the world.

So, I downloaded several VPNs (just to be safe), and decided to start an adventure on this magnificent website. It quickly became like a second home to me, and I spent countless hours reading about other people's grows, sharing my own experiences, and learning from the collective wisdom and knowledge of this amazing community.

5. Question: What do you like about Growdiaries?

Answer: I'll first say what I don't like, but thinking about it, the only thing I don't like are some users that I consider a bit "toxic". But then again, every community has its share of bad apples. To be honest, there's not much I don't like about Growdiaries. 

Overall, I love everything about Growdiaries. It's amazing to be able to see the experiences of other users, compare my progress with theirs, keep track of the days that pass by posting new photos, and share my journey. I haven't done it for a while but I love it. I haven't been participating in contests, but they're always fun and challenging, and they help me develop new skills. They allow me to unleash my imagination and always improve.

The growing community is a fantastic place to learn, connect with other growers, and share your own experiences. I feel grateful to be a part of such a welcoming and supportive community, and I'm continually inspired by the amazing growers I come across on the platform.

I'm excited to see what the future holds for Growdiaries and the cannabis cultivation community. I hope we can continue to innovate and push the boundaries of what's possible with this amazing plant.

6. Question: Do you train your cannabis plants? If yes, can you describe a technique that is easy even for beginners?

Answer: I haven't been actively training my plants lately, but in the past, I've tried various techniques ranging from simple low-stress training (LST) to mainlining and everything in between. Now, I use a method that I like to define as the "experimental" method for my small-scale cultivation, which involves taking clones from the mother plants, letting them vegetate for a few weeks, and then putting a plant into flowering every other day. This creates a small Sea of Green (SoG) that allows me to harvest a finished plant very frequently.

I have been criticized several times and in various ways for my somewhat particular techniques, but most of those who initially criticized me have started using my cultivation method and grown their plants to have perennial and daily harvests. 

For a beginner, I would recommend starting with simple LST and then moving on to Mainlining once they get comfortable with the resistance of the branches. This helps to maximize the harvest. Of course, the amount of space available for cultivation also plays a significant role. But in general, by applying LST, you can get more crops with minimal effort and in confined spaces.

7. Question: Are you a do-it-yourself person or do you buy most of the equipment including nutrients?

Answer: Living in a country where cannabis cultivation is illegal, in the city, and a studio apartment, DIY is difficult to do at home. I’d love to create things but it’s just not possible, unfortunately. So, I try other methods to make it a worthwhile experience. For one, I take advantage of what the market offers. And, then, I also browse through the brand pages on Growdiaries to see what other users think of one brand rather than another. These reviews help me make educated decisions and give me the confidence to try something new. 

8. Question: Can you describe some things you do (DIY) that maybe save you money?

Answer: Currently I don't do anything "at home" that allows me to save money, but to those who have the space and possibilities I always recommend doing super soil. There are currently super soils to buy online, such as The High Chameleon which I haven't had the chance to try yet, but it has great reviews. Or, you can find several tutorials right on this site in the blog section and learn how to make super soil. If I had the space, I’d have done it for sure. It is one of the best ways to cultivate great cannabis buds right at home. 

9. Question: Can you name a few growers who have inspired you here? What do you like most about their growth style?

Answer: One of the things I love most about Growdiaries is how open and supportive growers are with sharing their techniques and answering questions. I've learned so much from other growers on the platform. It’s not just about growing techniques, but also about troubleshooting issues and finding solutions to common problems.

I could name at least a hundred growers here, but since I’ve been missing from action for a few months, I’m having trouble remembering all the names. At this moment, I can remember just a few names and I’ll name them here. 

Canamatoes was a huge inspiration for me with his amazing autoflower mainlining techniques and will continue to be for a long time. Even though he's no longer on the platform, I know his influence will continue to grow. I'm willing to bet that in a few years, he will be considered a worldwide boss when it comes to growing and mainlining autoflowers, churning out huge cannabis bushes. 

Mrs_Larimar taught me the power of simplicity, and her plants always amaze me. I learned from her that simplicity is needed even in small things to make them big. Silky_smooth's bonsai plants are also incredible and inspire me to create my own. They are the most beautiful bonsai I’ve seen so far!

Other growers who have made an impact on me include Theia, Miss_Greenthumbs_Garden, MadeInGermany, PEAKYPLANTERS, DoDrugs420, Budxs, and MrJones. There are so many great growers on Growdiaries, and I'm sure there are many more I haven't even discovered yet.

The community is diverse too, with growers from all over the world and with different levels of experience. It's amazing to see how everyone comes together to help each other out, regardless of their background or skill level. I've always felt encouraged to ask questions and share my own experiences, and I've received valuable feedback and advice from other growers that have helped me improve my growing techniques.

And seeing other growers' grow diaries and photos is so inspiring! There are some really talented growers out there who are constantly pushing the boundaries and experimenting with new techniques. I'm always blown away by the creativity and ingenuity of the community, and it's motivating to see what's possible with a bit of patience and dedication.

10. Question: Is there any variety that you grow in particular? Would you recommend it for beginners?

Answer: I like hybrids with sweet scents. I love growing plants from Sweet Seeds for this very reason. They have sweet and fruity flavors, fast flowering plants, and often beautiful colors. For a beginner, I would recommend some of their varieties, such as the Red mandarine or the Red strawberry banana, which is incredibly sweet, beautiful, and fragrant! Also, they are considerably easy to grow even for beginners. If you’re a sucker for sweet smells like me, go for them without a doubt!

11. Question: What are your favorite strains and why?

Answer: When it comes to strains, I tend to lean towards indica-dominant ones because I'm already an active person and don't always appreciate the speed at which sativa-leaning strains can make my thoughts race. People love the “energizing” effect produced by Sativas, but they don’t always work for me. 

I enjoy cultivating different varieties to explore new flavors and scents. As I mentioned earlier, I have a soft spot for sweet and fruity aromas, but I also enjoy more robust and diesel-like flavors. One of my recent favorites was a Bubba Haze of Regular Seeds, which had a strong coffee scent with a hint of diesel and a slightly earthy aroma. Smoking it felt like sipping coffee at a countryside bar while refueling the car — a truly delightful and unique experience.

I've also started to appreciate the newer "fast" versions of strains that flower within a week before normal photoperiods. For those who are new to growing, I highly recommend trying out some of these Sweet Seeds variants. They're a great way to explore different flavors and experiment with cultivation techniques, while also enjoying a quick turnaround time.

12. Question: Who are your favorite breeders?

Answer: As I mentioned earlier, I always try to keep a variety of Sweet Seeds in my garden, but there are many that I mention when asked about my favorites. When it comes to choosing seed banks, there are so many good ones to choose from. I will limit myself to the seed banks without mentioning varieties in particular or it gets long. 

Some of my personal favorites include Zamnesia, Regular Seeds, Green House Seeds, The High Chameleon, Spliff Seeds, Hypno Seeds, Caucasian Seeds, Weedseedsexpress, Amsterdam Marijuana Seeds, Paradise Seeds, Fastbuds, Super Sativa Seeds Club, Dutchfem, Humboldt Seeds, and many more that I currently can’t remember.

Of course, there are always new seed banks popping up and new varieties to try. I'm always open to trying out new options and discovering something new and delicious for my garden.

13. Question: What kind of nutrients do you use to grow cannabis?

Answer: So, for about two years now, I've been using GreenBuzzNutrients as my go-to fertilizer for my plants. They're a line of vegan fertilizers that cover the entire lifecycle of the plant and I've had some pretty amazing results with them. The final flowers come out clean, fragrant, and even tasty! 

However, I've been recently considering trying out Green House Feeding's organic powder fertilizers as they seem to be more suitable for people like me who often find it hard to keep up with liquid fertilizers. It can be a bit tricky to keep track of plants with different flowering times every single day, especially when you're a heavy smoker like me.

14. Question: What was the last variety you grew?

Answer: There is never an end to what you can grow. So, at the moment, my garden is flourishing with a variety of strains that I've been tending to. To name a few, I've got clones of Gorilla Sherbet from Sweet Seeds, and Red Chile Truffles from Hypno Seeds in the vegetation stage. I'm also growing Freakshow from Humboldt Seeds, a Bochi from Caucasian Seeds, two Cloud Walkers x Watermelon Zkittlez from Green House Seeds, and a Lemon OG from Super Sativa Seeds Club that are in the vegetative stage. 

As for harvest, I've got some Fast Buds varieties, including Original Blueberry, Zkittlez, Smoothie, Orange Sherbet, and LSD 25. I also have some autoflowering strains from Sweet Seeds, like Red Gorilla Girl XL and Red Strawberry Banana, as well as DutchFem's Dutch Ice Cream #41. I'm planning to start a new cycle in the next few days with some Hypno Seeds varieties, but it’s hard to say what I may choose as there are many.  It's amazing how the possibilities for growing are endless!

15. Question: What was the last variety you smoked?

Answer: I just smoked some Orange Sherbet by Fast Buds and I have to say, it's pretty amazing. The buds are green, oval-shaped, and compact, with a definite sativa-leaning structure. When you first smell it, you can pick up on the orange peel scent, with some sweet and fruity undertones. After grinding it up, it almost seemed to double in size! But the burn was great, leaving a nice sweet orange aftertaste and a slight tingle in my nose. A great strain to smoke in the morning!

16. Question: Any tips for our readers to enjoy cannabis more? Maybe, concentrates, gummies, etc.?

Answer: In my opinion, to truly appreciate cannabis, it's important to constantly expand your collection by growing a diverse range of plants and experimenting with different strains. It's a fascinating and infinite world that deserves to be explored with an open mind and plenty of curiosity. Although I haven't had the chance to try gummies yet, I'm definitely interested in giving them a go. However, I can vouch for cannabis-infused cookies and desserts in general — they just taste better with that added touch of aftertaste!
