Short video about the update:

Explore Your Favorite Strains Like Never Before!

We’re thrilled to announce the latest update to our platform, designed to make discovering and learning about strains easier, more visual, and more informative than ever.

Key Info at a Glance

One of the first things you’ll notice is a new scale right under the strain properties, showing the average THC content. On top of that, we’ve added a visual representation of the strain’s effects, making it simple to get key information about a desired strain at a single glance.

The New Gallery Tab

Next, you’ll see a brand-new “Gallery” tab next to the “Harvest” tab, where you can explore all the photos related to the strain. It’s a fantastic way to get a closer look at the strains you love, uploaded by real Grow Diaries users.

Expanded Genetic Tree

But the main highlight of this update is our expanded strain family tree. You can now view the parents, grandparents, and great-grandparents of a desired strain, giving you deep insight into its genetics and the origins of its traits—going back three generations.

This feature not only keeps you better informed about a strain but also provides a broader understanding of why a specific strain looks the way it does, tastes the way it does, and produces the effects it does

Strain Recommendations

Beneath that, you’ll find suggestions of other strains created with your chosen genetics, making it easy to discover alternatives that might suit your preferences or help you find a new strain that could become your next favorite.

Compare Similar Strains

We’ve also introduced a new comparison chart that lets you evaluate the original strain alongside suggested alternatives that share similar traits.

This chart provides detailed information on each strain’s type, THC content, effects, and dominant terpenes, giving you the insights needed to make confident, informed decisions before choosing the next strain that will go into your garden.

We would love to hear your feedback in the comments. Go ahead and hit that comment button! Happy growing!

Please bring back the old notification system the current one is quite confusing and makes it hard to follow updates. Also, I can no longer see when I receive likesโ€ฆ

@valiotoro, look at "For you" tab vs followers

@valiotoro, Hey, thanks for your feedback on this. We are working on improving the new notification system and make it as user friendly as possible. Likes should be back by now. And (as @Natrona wrote) now it's separated by "For you" (where you can people's reaction on your diaries/comments) and "Following" where we've grouped all the updates from the diaries/users/brands grower follows& If you have ideas on how it can be improved - please share. Have a great day!

@growdiaries can you sort your new notifications, i get 5 years old info. All new ones ( before update) are gone ( i had like 20 unseen, had no time to check ) ... Its good to get notified, when your answer is selected, hopefully likes worth/accounting is sorted too, if you went that path ( sorting question section )... Getting notifications about other people updates is stupid, 2x info, or remake layout. I see from my follow list if there is any updates from people i follow already, so what for this option ??? ... Just got notification, that someone liked my video, but cant even see which one ... Some work should be done to tune up...

@Natrona, they are testing app now, that glitch they knew. Even if you seen that diary, notification clears up only if you go to www version of diary, here same mistake ... i know , now they monitor even comment section, so they will see our remarks. Alternatively we can leave all remarks at growdiaries.com/contact section. I think, here healthy discussion helps more, than just a ticket in info@growdiaries.com/ ...

@AsNoriu, noted. Will pass it over to the developers. Thanks!

I really like the updates. One thing that bothers me is that the name of the breeder name isn't visible on the products tab (but it is visible on the scrollable product overview on the main page of the genetic)

GrowDiaries commented3mo ago
@DuschkabinenGrow, When you say product tab - do you mean the one that's on the screenshot? We have some of the original breeders set, but we still have lots of work to do on this.

Looks great! ๐Ÿ‘ Where does the info of the THC-level come from? ๐Ÿ‘‹
GrowDiaries
GrowDiaries commented3mo ago
@Crazy_Doofus, Thanks! It depend on every strain. Sometimes we take the info from the producer, sometimes from the seedbanks. Obviously it's not 100% but should be in the realistic range.

@GrowDiaries, diplomatic answer ๐Ÿ˜‰would B weird 2 atmid u grow'em yourself ๐Ÿ˜ so what's the difference Btween producer and seedbank? Thanku 4 your time ๐Ÿ‘‹

Please make a Myspace type "top 8/10/12" of whatever strains I want to show on my main "info" page. Also, add a ticket box or something where users can ask to get new strains added. Because I've prob grown maybe 6 or 7 strains that were not listed on this site, despite being listed on breeder pages, ect
GrowDiaries
GrowDiaries commented3mo ago
@Dabking, I remember MySpace but do not really remember the details of how it was there. Could you share some details of your idea please? Regarding the second point - yes, the breeders page has more strains at the moment. We are working on growing the number of strains in the strains section and it takes time. But we'll get there. In case you would like some strains to be added to the strains section - write them here or send them through support. We will take a look. Thanks for your feedback!

@Crazy_Doofus, Assnor gets triggered by the words "proper seeds" and "bum" even as a joke. Don't worry you wouldn't get it as a reduralis grower anyway.

Enhanced strain information for what exactly? As far as the strain section goes: What's being called "key information" is completely subjective, and unreliable. Key information would be the TERPENE PROFILE and CANNABINOID PROFILE of the hybrids and strains listed. What its chemical make-up actually is. Facts. This is why Leafly.com is actually useful, and what's here is basicly useless to anyone not interested in names, stories and marketing BS.
GrowDiaries
GrowDiaries commented12h ago
@The_Wanderer, You will find the info on the dominant terpene if you scroll down a bit while on the strain page (which is shown in the article you've commented on). The difference between us and leafly is that they are a part of sales chain therefore they can get all the information and lab tests from the flower producers. They are a huge commercial machine. We are not. Nevertheless we pay much more attention to the correct description and genetics of every strain. Have a great day !
The_Wanderer
The_Wanderer commented12h ago
@GrowDiaries, , You totally missed the point. A single dominant terpene is only partial information and not useful. That's like saying the dominant ingredient in a soft drink is water! It doesn't tell us anything about the soft drink! The most dominant 3 terpenes of a strain at minimum are needed to get a more accurate picture. The vast majority of commercial cannabis is going to fall directly into 3 distinct terpene profile groups, which leafly calls cluster 1, 2 and 3 because of the commercial hybrid blender that's shaping cannabis genetics by market trends, and not wise breeding practices. Why not make 4 categories. One for each common terpene profile, and the 4th for the truly unique cannabis? This will simplify the classification from looking at everything singularly, to seeing a few obvious groupings. If you are unable to compete with the competence level of leafly... why willingly fail knowing your effort will be sub-par? What's the point when it's obviously it's more beneficial for people to go elsewhere to get the most useful information? I think most everyone serious would want the best information possible. Time and resources have already been wasted in making these lackluster superficial changes on growdiaries. Those resources could have went into something else. Whoever made that decision is locking people in to anecdotal, subjective descriptions, and air castles from sales departments. I don't consider that helpful to people. Actually it's more harm than good. Also a switch to normal plant breeding terms that can distinguish between an unstable unpredictable hybrid and an actual strain would help tremendously. Imagine common terminology that makes concise communication possible, ending a lot of chaos and confusion that is rampant here. A seed that results in high variation isn't going to have the same chemical compounds in each unique plant. In truth, without being deceptive, all one can say is: we tested some of these hybrids and this is what the results were, but we can't say this is what you will actually get because the hybrid is unstable and will have variations between plants. If it's a true breeding strain, yes, then one can say what is actually there consistently and reliably. This is what medicine is, an actual strain with known reliable characteristics. It's time to take peoples suffering and need for medicine seriously, and stop catering soley to people that buy blindly based on subjective opinions or whatever is hyped up at the moment through marketing and advertising campaigns. These descriptions you want to pay close attention to are what? Mostly subjective and anecdotal if not total fantasy. The genetic lineage? How are you making that accurate? Which DNA testing lab is working with you to figure this out? That must be a massive project. Surely you aren't just believeing parroting claims of others... right?

@GrowDiaries is it possible to get a select multiple or all option. When clearing notifications? Selecting each, individually and confirming removal is very tedious. Please and thank you! ๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿค˜
