This actually marks the first week from breaking through top soil. My ladies are taking the somewhat high temps very well, doing my best to keep it down around 79-81(Day) and (72-75) at night. They say the colors really pop at lower temps so hopefully I can work my way down even more to achieve those colors in the end. I’m using the Batch 64 Moonshine (super coco), haven’t heard a lot about, but my hydroponics shop recommended and it looks like it’s treating the ladies right. GP started to lean over on Day 4 and just couldn’t get up , so I propped her up with a twist tie and she’s doing great now 😎Anybody have a clue as to why she just slumped over in the first place? I haven’t ph my water at all but I will this next week coming up and will also be adding in some small doses of Terpinator each watering. I will be Ph (ing) my water between 6.2-6.6 this coming week and will be observing how the plants respond to the watering. Hopefully another great week is ahead filled with lots of growth. Week 5 of Flower: HLG Diablo at 100% 15in from canopy. Watered in at 900ml top dressed 2tbs bloom, 2tbs bloom2, 3 tbs barley, 2 tbs worm castings, last recharge day and a silica day. Flower set, in bloom I feel like I should have thinned out the canopy more for better penetration but it’s the first run so let’s she how deep she gets in.

We’re getting closer, they’ve upped their water intake this week, so I’m thinking we’re on pretty much the last push now! Absolutely stinks of pineapples in there, with a gassy undertone. I’m excited to see how these finish up!! Hopefully not too much longer now.

Ergo, schon gestern hat meine Pflanze extreme Probleme mit der Wurzeltemperatur bekommen und hat die Blätter hängen lassen . Ich hab das Licht runtergeschraubt und Abluft extrem erhöht. Ventilation direkt in die Pflanze sonst gibts Schimmel . Aber hilft halt nicht wirklich . Luftentfeuchter läuft auf Dauerschaltung und produziert dann auch noch Wärme, die ich überhaupt nicht gebrauchen kann bei den Temperaturen draussen lol. Das Licht noch weiter reduziert dafür näher an die Planze gemacht. Das ist wirklich das mindeste was noch geht. Liegt ca bei PPFD 600 an der Spitze . Wenigstens ist hier die Luftfeuchtigkeit im Rahmen , zwar immer noch zuviel (67% im Zelt) aber besser so als das hier die Hitze in die Höhe schießt . Nach 12h Licht (19:00 Uhr) wird dann wieder aufgedreht und die letzen Stunden mit mehr intensität nachgeholt was nachzuholen geht , denn dann gehen hier erst wieder die Temperaturen runter . Day 56: Läuft wie gestern ab 19:00 wurde das Licht aufgedreht und DLI nachgeholt .

Harvest: Everything dried up to 347 grams + 96 grams of super high quality trim. Overall I am not too pleased with the smoke of the product. Although the bud size, bag appeal, smell and taste are pretty much all there, the shitty burn is a deal breaker for me and the majority of this weed is quite frankly useless. Another downside is while smoking I’ve found 4 seeds in an ounce from almost every strain. Light leaks? At least I learned a ton, including how to get super good burn for my next crop. I’m hoping that curing for a month or so will improve the burn but I wouldn’t really count on it. I have seen weed dried for 4 days with no cure and no flush smoke clean and not go out once. I have been told that the key to white ashes/clean burn is proper mineral content in the soil and there is tons of scientific studies on cigar ash going back 100 years. Plants grown in a medium with high levels of decomposing organic matter, phosphorus, magnesium, chlorine and heavy metal ratio tend to produce black/grey ash. Whereas plants grown in a medium with a higher ratio of trace minerals like calcium carbonate and potassium in the form of wood ash, rock dusts, oyster shell flour and lower levels of decomposing organic matter will produce a dense, uniform white ash that rarely goes out. But this is still all theory until I test it to confirm for myself a few times. My last few outdoor harvests did not improve with curing at all so I’m hoping this will be the missing link. Plain peat moss and coco clearly lack essential minerals that help burn. If said theory is correct I should find a synthetic nutrient line with more trace minerals. Makes me wonder if growing if rockwool/basalt rock could improve burn in a hydro setup. I think I did a fairly decent job for my first grow. I went wrong in a million different places but I still stuck it out and got some decent herb. Things went wrong early when I got black spot mold, nitrogen/magnesium deficiencies and powdery mildew. I corrected most of it but things didn’t get really bad until mid veg when I intentionally skipped a few feedings and defoliated quite heavily stunting the plants. I also didn’t even top or start LST until the 6-9th node which was really stupid and hurt my yield. My temperatures were all over the place from the learning curve. I was severely overwatering without realizing it. 100% peat moss is a shitty medium. I also fed way too late in flower (not what caused shitty burn). I also used synthetic nutrients in soil. D71. Week five of flower and the girls are simply doing their thing. I scouted the plants today and found thrips on the second girl. I was hoping the lacewings would have gotten them all by now, but no such luck. I'll give them a week before ordering another batch. For some reason, the thrips avoid the first girl. Visually, there's also a clear difference between the two girls, with the first girl being darker and having more buds. ------------------------------ D73. I brewed a short (6 hours) compost tea today consisting of worm castings, kelp meal, neem meal, humic and fulvic acid, rock dust, biochar, and molasses. After the brew, I added homemade Bokashi juice, which lowered the pH of the tea to 6.6. Each girl got 2.5 liters of tea (5% of pot volume.) I also did another light round of defoliation, down low on the plants. ------------------------------ D75. Each girl got 2.5 liters of water @ pH 6.5, with 5 ml of FFJ. The plants stretched SO MUCH after flipping them into flower that it's challenging for the light to penetrate the canopy, and it's pretty dark further down. I bought some LED grow light strips and installed them in the tent to provide additional side lighting. It's only 36 W of extra lighting, but I hope it will help to develop the numerous buds down low. I put the lights on the left side of the tent, around the first girl, since she has a lot more buds, but now that it looks like the concept works, I might get another set of lights for the right side of the tent. ------------------------------ D77. We've reached the end of the fifth week of flower, and all is well in the tent. Ahem, almost all since I still have the thrips to contend with, BUT I just put a bunch of Cucumeris predatory mites in the tent, so the war rages on. A friend suggested adding white cloth below the plants to reflect more light toward the lower buds. Sounds plausible, but I didn't have any fabric, so I went all ghetto by simply putting strips of kitchen paper on top of the scrog net. Not the most fantastic reflector material ever, but it's what I had at hand. Plus, it's easy to work with and costs next to nothing. I doubt it will make a big difference, but even a slight increase is still an increase, and I could see a visible difference in the amount of light hitting the lower canopy. Finally, each plant got 2.5 liters of water @ pH 6.3, with FFJ and Bokashi Juice. ------------------------------
