Such Bittersweet Joy Added this week as ‘Flowering’ although technically should be harvested as I but I haven’t had a chance to weigh or anything. I will do that next week once trimmed etc. So finally cut them down on D89, it was a beautiful day outside and it just felt right. Although when it came to the deed itself I felt sadder than I thought I would for my girls and the time we had together. All 6 (I’m growing another 3 different strains but not included on this diary) are now hanging to dry in the tent. Temp -18 C; Humidity-60% seems to be holding steady with no tinkering thankfully. After the 3 days they have all dried noticeably, perhaps 4/5 more before trimming / curing. I’ve had quite a close look at most of the harvest and as far as this noob can tell, there doesn’t seem to be any issues with mould / bud rot. Fingers remain crossed. I did have one very profound moment this week... It happened as I was surveying the harvest hanging up for the first time. I could feel my mindset change suddenly from the constant paranoia over their health and overcoming my impatience to “I actually have a crap load of weed”. It was beautiful beautiful moment... 2020-08-17 Beginning of Week 9 of flowering! Wow! The buds in the middle are getting super frosty now and I noticed that I had some colas that had dipped below the light canopy. They're now back up on top! I am still giving nutrients as I don't see many amber trichomes yet but I am going into the tent without the LEDs on to take some more updated pics. Don't wanna miss my window as I prefer to be stimulated instead of sedated by cannabis. Hoping this strain delivers. IF anyone wants to comment on the 'readiness' of my buds for flushing (or not flushing) please leave a comment or message me! 2020-08-23 Updated with this week's entire set of pics! Trying to take more with the lights off and just the flash to capture the trichomes. Looks like the sugar leaves have more amber trichomes. I've been advised by at least one person that it's time to harvest. Still looking for more opinions! Cheers.

I kept tucking those branches pretty hard and mad a decent canopy. Though I may have over done It and now my forest is pretty bush. Day 10 of flower, Im gonna defoliate and maybe lollipop a bit in the next few days and then add next layer of trellis to use as support. Started adding Canna Boost. Other than that, I fixed my calmag issue by switching to tap water, but Im not feeding nutrients at full strength since I have pretty hard tap water.

The blue/purple hue in the buds is starting to come through under the shimmering trichomes, the size and density of these buds is blowing me away. week 8 is at an end and i am avidly checking trichomes awaiting the end. the fade is in full effect

Got the Spider Farmer wicking system set up with a reservoir. Up until now I’ve been using purchased pure water since it came with a better starting pH than my tap. After running the numbers, the cost of hauling jugs didn’t make sense long term. I ended up grabbing an RV water inline filter for the garden hose, which strips out most of the chlorine and other contaminants I was worried about. Goal was mostly a stable water source because the girls are getting thirsty; I still prefer hand-watering to wet and activate the top dress. Access is only from one side of the 5×5, so as they bulk up I’m learning the back two are a chore to reach. The wicking pads help keep things even between rounds, but I’m still going in by hand to finish the job. Did a defoliation pass; airflow and light paths improved, but I may need to push it a bit further because I don’t want a lot of larf. Crazy how much plant material I pulled off but they seem fine. Light feels like the current yield limiter. The SF4000 is solid but a touch undersized for full 5×5 penetration, the lower canopy isn’t getting what I want. I’m eyeing a higher-wattage bar style light for better edge uniformity and deeper PAR at canopy. I’ve been testing edge light saturation with the SpiderF PPFD sensor at canopy height. Center readings are strong but the corners and long edges are clearly lacking. Smaller tent or smaller plants another option maybe. Im at 100% on my light and will be for the rest of the grow just raising it to keep distance. Plants look happy overall. The Durban Cookies is standing out, taller and more vigorous than the 10th Planets especially for being a week younger than the rest. I am guessing it will be harvested first just by stretch speed alone. The 10th Planets R1s all have a pretty even canopy going but showing stretch. Wicking system + hand-water combo is keeping the media right where I want it, and the top dress from last week is kicking in. Reminding everyone this is my first grow. Hoping for a pound dry, but I won’t be greedy. Keeping my expectations realistic! Thanks for following along.

Wk12 the last two taking there time. I think this is a good example for how different seeds from the same strain can be ! The left one could be harvested i think but the right one is the sickly from the start, i think its cool that it still gets to this !!! i have time and will harvest when my next project needs place. Done with week 10 and I actually thought that I will be able to send her into darkness for some days today before harvest. But despite very thick buds she still has no amber trichomes yet. I’m gonna give her three more days with light followed by three days of darkness. After that I have to harvest her because I’m going on a trip for some days. Fingers crossed for this beauty! I’m very excited what the scale will say in the end because those buds look heavy…

As you can see one of the phenos is flowering actively but the other one is still vegetating. I had to supercropp the vegetative one, because she was growing very tall and was going to burn her leaves. Other than that everything is great ✌️

The ladies are stacking hard and smelling insane. The nicest pheno has some amazing bud structure with big icy buds and perfect node spacing. Smells like fresh zoap, sweet, fruity, gassy and parfume/soap-like. Incredible. She is by far the biggest plant, which is nice as she looks like the most productive one. My second favorite is looking beautiful. The structure on her is not so great and looks like a small producer. Very nice fruity/candy terps though, and incredibly icy. The stretchy tall pheno is looking great too. She smells more like a mix of #1 & #2, very icy as well. She stretched a lot so the top buds are very close to the light, and very foxtaily. The buds at 40-70 cm distance are looking more compact and dense. The least favo pheno looks very weird and small, bud the buds are pretty icy and smell very sweet.

Since this was a first grow, I treated mostly as a learning experience. I had one other plant of the same strain two weeks behind this one. I was happy with the bud structure, nice and dense and they trimmed up nice. I never did get any plant aromas while it was growing. I'm posting this after I've dried and cured both plants. I didn't dry this one properly and the hay smell ended up pretty strong during dry and didn't go away enough during cure. So end result was pretty nugs that smelled a bit of hay and wasn't potent at all. My fault, I don't blame the genetics. I realize now I was underwatering and that better equipment equals better results.

At the end of week 10 I harvested all plants. I cut off all big fan-leaves and all other leaves that are bigger than my thumbnail and then cut the whole plant at the stem and hang them as a whole upside down in my tent. After 2 weeks of drying I try to bend a side-branch and if it breaks with a hearable sound, the buds are dry enough to put them into glass-pots for curing. After trimming the dried buds I put the two sides separately on the scale. One main cola of the LUMATEK side (=left side in tent) had bud-rot and had to be thrown out (=appr. 20 gram). The rest of the left side harvested 862 grams of dried buds. Divide the total (=882 gram) by the 600 Watt of power used by the ZEUS 600W PRO, the LUMATEK side yielded 1,47 GRAM PER WATT for this cycle. The right side with the two SANlight Q6W-Gen.2 lamps used 460 Watts of power (=including the dimming) and harvested 880 gram of dried bud, that is an EXCELLENT YIELD OF 1,91 GRAM PER WATT. Therefore I conclude my comparative LED-grow with a CLEAR VICTORY for the SANlight LEDs over LUMATEK! 👍😎 The SANlight achieved 0,44 GRAM PER WATT MORE THAN the Lumatek!
