A really explosive week of growth. I pushed PPFD up to 310umols. Dimmers are at 60% which is drawing 224w plus 18w of DRRB. I have alos started Emerson effect ... Another The Emerson effect is triggered by the simultaneous exposure of plants to light in the deep red and far-red spectra Deep Red 660 nm /Far-Red 700 nm . A bit of boring science that explains why you need both far red and deep red in order to trigger Emerson. The effect occurs because photosynthesis is driven by two distinct pigment systems working in series:Photosystem II (PSII): Absorbs energy most efficiently at shorter wavelengths (higher frequencies), like 680 nm (441 THz). Photosystem I (PSI): Absorbs energy most efficiently at longer wavelengths (lower frequencies), specifically 700 nm (428 THz). When you provide only the higher frequency (deep red), PSI becomes a bottleneck. When you provide only the lower frequency (far-red), PSII is not sufficiently excited to provide electrons. Providing both frequencies simultaneously allows both systems to work at peak efficiency, resulting in a rate of photosynthesis that is greater than the sum of the two lights used individually. To understand the Emerson Effect, think of photosynthesis not as a single engine, but as a two-stage assembly line. What is the Emerson Effect? Discovered by Robert Emerson in 1957, this phenomenon shows that plants perform photosynthesis much more efficiently when they are hit by two specific types of light at the same time: Deep Red (660 nm) and Far-Red (700+ nm). If you give a plant only Far-Red light, photosynthesis is very slow. If you give it only Deep Red, it's better but still limited. However, when you give it both at once, the total rate of photosynthesis is significantly higher than if you just added the two results together (1+1=3). What is Happening? (The "Assembly Line") Inside the plant's chloroplasts, there are two "workstations" called Photosystem II (PSII) and Photosystem I (PSI). They work in series, meaning the first one must pass "parts" to the second one. PSII (The First Station): This station is tuned to catch Deep Red light (660 nm). It harvests electrons from water. PSI (The Second Station): This station is tuned to catch Far-Red light (700 nm). It takes the electrons from the first station and uses them to create energy (ATP and NADPH). The Problem: If you only provide Deep Red light, the first station works fast, but the second station can't keep up because it isn't being "powered" efficiently by that specific frequency. This creates a traffic jam of electrons. The Solution: By adding Far-Red light, you power up the second station. It now "pulls" the electrons from the first station much faster, clearing the traffic jam and making the whole assembly line run at full speed. The Benefits for The Grow Because i am using the Biotabs water-only method, my plants already have a steady supply of organic nutrients. Implementing the Emerson Effect offers several distinct advantages: Increased Biomass: Because the "engine" is running faster, the plant produces more sugars and carbohydrates, leading to heavier fruits or flowers. Faster Finishing: Plants often reach maturity sooner because they have more surplus energy to complete their life cycle. Better Light Penetration: Far-Red light is very good at passing through the upper leaves. This "wakes up" the lower parts of the plant that would otherwise be shaded, allowing the whole plant to contribute to growth. Enhanced Secondary Metabolites: In many crops, this synergistic light can stimulate the production of terpenes and antioxidants, improving the "quality" (smell, taste, and potency) of the final harvest. The "Sunrise/Sunset" Trick I am using 4x Invisible sun Far red/Deep red bars,they use high-quality Samsung LH351H (660nm Deep Red) and specific Far-Red (730nm) diodes for 10–15 minutes at the start or end of the light cycle. This mimics the natural shift in light at sunrise and sunset, "waking up" the photosystems or signaling the plant to go into "sleep mode" faster, which can further optimize the flowering cycle. Enviromentally i am chasing a VPD of about 1,1kpa. My room seem to sit nicely at lights on at 24c with no real drama and a little help from a 220W greenhouse bar radiator. Its using abot 4kw/h a day atm because my room is attached to the side of my house and its been -5c.. I have had to add some humidity as its also very dry atm. Im aiming for RH of 65% with my 24c but it is more around the 62s.. VPD is crucial and is the focus for this grow for me. The autopots and Biotabs make it so easy ican really just focus on perfect enviroment. A VPD of 1.0–1.2 kPa provides enough "atmospheric pull" to move calcium and magnesium up from the roots, which is critical for the rapid cell division happening now.. Plants will be flipped on Saturday which is their week 5 as im a bit behind.. As this happens i will push PPFD upto 4-500umols. by week 2 of flower. Thats the plan anyway..

It's been a while since I updated this diary bc work and life has been hella busy for me. But banana hammock has been cruising so far. Going into the end of week 3..I chose not to defoliate this time like I usually do around week 3. Just gone take whatever is blocking a top or at least try to tuck it...shooting for big colas. I'm introducing a few of Humboldt County's Own nutrients...they got good reviews and I just really want to try them lol..just got a few products such as the killer t, snowstorm ultra and the G10

harvested on day 66. trichomes been turning amber for last couple of weeks. but she is amazing. bud structure is top notch and the smell is unreal. this was my first organic grow and only second ever. the difference in my grows are night and day and i will be staying organic for sure. i cant recommened it enough. will update weights etc when its all dried hopefully on the weekend coming

Great weather, haven't had a drop of rain in 6 weeks! She's growing so fast now. I've completley filled out my 4x4 canopy. If I could force flower now I would, but here I am with another 6 weeks of veg left! I thought with all this heavy mainline I wouldn't need a ladder come harvest, not the case. I did some super croping to strengthen the branches and contain height. Using LST clips on some of the taller branches to even out the canopy. I was gone for 4 days, and lost 3 branches, could of been wind, not sure. On top of that I removed 3 or 4 branches that were stunted and well below the canopy. In any case you can hardly notice the loss, canopy is nice and full, even growth. I'm debating topping it all again, but I may just let her ride it out. She's growing an inch a day at least, having to raise the trellis weekly, it's working really good to keep an evenly spaced canopy.

10/14/19 - manim baked. Time to feed them. Going to start flushing this week! Enjoy a video :) UPDATE* Life happens and we make mistakes. Little too much to drink with a good smoke and a long day at work.... ended up not finishing putting my girls all back in the tent so they were out for a few but only interrupted with light for 3 hours.. Not a big deal since we are this far but live and learn.. Rule 1. Dont get shit faced while taking care of the girls 😂👌😅🤦‍♂️💁‍♂️ Anyways will take pictures tonight and then feed the girls. 10/15/19 - watered the girls tonight. No signs of slowing down! Buds fattening and ripening. 10/16/19- updated pictures. Checked the buds. No feeding tonight. Trichomes are mostly milky with a few clear and a tiny amount of amber. Should be around next week when we hit 8 weeks of flowering, we will then determine harvest week. Shooting for 2nd week of November. Girls should be around 11 to 12 weeks in flowering. 10/17/19 - Watering time and updated pics. Milky and clear with a amber here and there. Shes close but needs I'd say 2 weeks more then a flush. Harvest is close. Her buds are getting fat 👌 10/18/19 - Updated pics Day 50. I'd say 2 weeks from now I'll begin flushing. So by mid November these guys will be dried and jarred 💨 10/19/19 - no watering needed. Buds are looking good. Hoping for 3 oz between the 3 bf phantoms. 👌 seeing more cloudy, amber here and there. I believe by 8 weeks we will begin flushing for 1 to 2 weeks. Then 48 hours of darkness before their chops. Will start setting up my tent for drying once it gets closer. Want to keep the rh at 50 to 52 while keeping the air at 70 to 68. I want them to slow dry and depending in how we run the tent, i will trim either on day 3 or 7. I want to give them 10 days of drying for a good fluffy cure. Top shelf bud is the goal for my first phenos. 10/20/19 - Fed the girls. I think this may be the last week and a half of nutrients then flush.

Look what I did to my girl, poor lady. But i'm sure she will bounce back, but with all that leaf shit It's hard to properly tie them down. So i broke off a total of 2 branches (yellow tape) and managed to attach one back to it. Otherwise she took all the stress LIKE A CHAMP - yet. We'll see. To be honest, i was quite lazy with her the last days, it was pretty stressful but look at her, she is basically growing herself! As long as you can cool it, have some sort of system to change water and some, basic nutrients and ph- DWC is the easiest system for me, 100% Look at the roots and i did not fill up the reservoir for like half a week, so a lot of it wsd exposed to air for a longer time still she is growing and growing. Two more weeks and i might have a problem with her in flower, because she will drink so much water the reservoir won't hold a long time haha. Crazy week with work and the girls. Day 37 and flowers are foaming nicely. Did give her a haircut and the leafs I removed were nice and green and healthy. After a few years of using Canna I can say its has grown on me as one of my favorite nutrient companies. Did have a mess this week with the pump kicking on by accident and pumping the girls with 3 gallons of nutrient water. No worries as the girls recover fast. When I grow autos or photo periods I give Cannas PK 13/14 from about 35-55. Then no more after that. The results at the end speak for themselves.

8/7 Plants were still heavy this morning. Temperatures have been much milder. 70's is much better than 90's. I had to water twice a day for a while. I defoliated ahind found some heat stress ob the gmo canary on the end with some twisted leaves. Some leaves are turning purple on an event horizon and gmo. Night Temps are much cooler plus its probably a pheno thing. I defoliated everything dead yesterday. Found lacewind eggs. Saw an adult green lace wing this morning in the garden along with a couple more lady bugs. There were also some lady bug larvae so I hope the go right to town. It's getting cooler so if I'm going to poorly I need to do it. Sherb pie plant seems to he the pillars favorite. I've killed a few of them. Still need to fix supports and do a little more defoliation. I have a video too but it's too slow to upload now. STOPPED AFTER GETTING MY TIRES PUT ON AND DAD SAID THE LITTLE PLANT IN THE 5 GAL BUCKET IS DROOPING. I WENT BACK AND OF COURSE IT WAS. Only problem I can see is some septoria looking spits on the toasted toffy and one gmo looks like itscrunning through nutrients quicker than others. Dad said he thinks this is my best year. He said they're more full and healthier looking. I looked at my diary last year and I had plants over the top of the cage. The weren't as bushy but I'm not complaining. These are far more indica dominant than last year so that's probably part of it. Leaves on the event horizons are starting to turn purple. I'll update what I do. I defoliated what needed it and combed through the plants hunting pillars. I GUESS I FORGOT TO UPDATE THIS OR IT DIDNT SAVE.
