12/25/2023-Germination Day 1 Merry X-mas 2023 I decided to start a run of SolFIre Gardens Hoodz Candyz S1. I am going to do a cup filled with RO water a touch of Hydrogen peroxide and let it sit for 24-48 hours until I see tap root then I am going to put it into a rapid rooter.. Tap root Down and put it about 1/4 of the say down the Rapid rooter. I made some modifications to my basket on this run.. I have taken a few Pods that I use for my cloning machine and decided that I am going to try and use them as sure plants, so that I can take my water right up to the bottom of the basket this time and see if these can make my planting more consistent.   12/26/2023-Germination Day 2 Tap root achieved Planting Commencing 12/27/2023-Germination Day 3 Misted the dome lightly misted the rapid rooter and added a little water to the bottom of the pan to encourage root growth to the pan. 12/28/2023-Germination Day 4 Ground Hogs day 12/29/2023- Germination Day 5 She is up, she has broken surface, I misted the root riot, and around the bottom of the tray to try and entice root growth down rapidly. 12/31/2023- Germination Day 6 Ground Hogs Day 1/1/2024-Germination Day 7 HAPPY NEW YEARS!!.. I did it I planned it out so my planting day would fall on New Years and it worked.. Yay!!! 1/2/2024- Germination Day 8 Since the roots are not to the water yet, I am pouring one cup of water lightly on the hydroton around the lady to try and encourage root growth down to the water.. 1/3/2024- Germination Day 9 Ground Hogs day, will continue until roots hit the water. 1/4/2024- Germination Day 10 Ground Hogs day, will continue until roots hit the water. I will just continue to top feed until roots are in the water.. Shouldn't be more than a few more days. 1/5/2024- Germination Day 11 Ground Hogs day, will continue until roots hit the water. I am going to change the water Sunday and kick off Week 1, I will just continue to top feed until roots are in the water.. W19 (Harvest) 6-6 Last day before harvest. 7-6 Harvest day! Installed a humidifier outside the tent, set to 55% aiming for a 60% humidity inside the dry tent. 17-6 After 10 days of drying she is ready to be trimmed. While posting this a couple of months later i found out that i totally forgot to make pictures and video's of the trimmed buds 😅 End result #1: 37 Grams of dried buds. 35.84 Grams of dried trim and very small buds, into the freezer. I would describe pheno 1 as normal frosty, almost stone like buds, smells chemical with hints of dish soap (i really like it!) I cant describe the taste but it was very tasty out of the box, before the cure, very sad i only had 37 grams of it haha. End result #2: Around 70 grams of dried buds. 43.23 Grams of dried trim and small buds, into the freezer for bubble hash. I would describe pheno 2 as very frosty buds, little bit fluffy, smells very gassy, with a nice sour taste after curing a couple of months. Very interesting strain, i will definitely grow it again! I have some trim and small buds saved up from different strains and i will be posting a diary of the full process making hash of them! here we are guys in the middle of week 8. the grow has been pretty good lately, just messed up some refilling but corrected immediately. as you can see from the pictures i did some mild defoliation to expose the lower buds. what do you guys think? to be honest I am pretty proud of the grow the girl looks beautiful. I am thinking about getting a 600w led and probably a bigger tent (100x100x200, 3"x3"x6") as always guys, advices are always welcomed keep growing 👍

Week 5 we seen a very fast entrance into flower. We have it it's first feeding of supercharged flower feed at a small dose. I took a good amount of leafs but not too many as don't want to stress her out too much

You walk into the back yard and it’s a straight face punch of smells. Looking like some indoor rn moved all plants to safer place in case storm hits so now I atleast have a wind break

This week in my grow room has been full of developments. First, I added additional lights because I couldn't get the relative humidity (RH) under control. I ordered a dehumidifier, but it will take a few weeks to arrive, so I had to find a temporary solution. I also emptied the reservoir and refilled it with fresh water and nutrients. I secured the net to ensure it stays in place under tension. In two days, I plan to switch the light schedule to 12/12, hoping the plants will stretch a bit during the switch to avoid having overly large buds that aren't evenly spread. Seventeen hours later, I decided to keep the lights on a 16/8 schedule for a few more days. The plants are starting to show signs of something happening, so I want to see how they develop. I will keep you updated on the progress. Then, I received a message from my supplier that the dehumidifier would arrive today. Great news—time to spice things up! On June 2nd, the dehumidifier arrived, and I managed to get my Vapor Pressure Deficit (VPD) to 1.17! This is fantastic news, and I'm very curious how this will affect water usage. The dehumidifier seems pretty powerful, with water literally dripping out of the hose, so I'm no longer worried about high humidity levels. It's a shame it doesn't have a range setting, but I couldn't expect more for the price. I'm considering ordering the Dimlux Auxbox to set a working range and separate day/night settings. Thankfully, the dehumidifier has an auto-restart function after a power loss. On June 3rd, the night is over, and while my values are now more stable, I haven't noticed any significant differences in water absorption. What I do notice is that the pots seem much drier. The difference in leaf temperature compared to the room temperature has increased slightly, now about a 2˚C difference, indicating that evaporation has increased somewhat. Despite the dehumidifier cooling the air, the room temperature has risen. This is explainable since dry air heats up faster than humid air. The CO2 heater is also running significantly longer. So, although there are no immediately visible differences, there are indeed some changes. Today is the last short night of 8 hours, and tomorrow will be the first night of 12 hours. I am contemplating doing a 10-hour night first and will decide later tonight. After closely reviewing the video footage, I noticed some divergent colors on the leaves. My pH is currently 6.4, which I had adjusted to compensate for the low pH last week—a foolish decision in coco, I know. I plan to make videos of each individual plant for my records to investigate further. The light is too intense to inspect them up close, so the videos will help me get a better look.

A solid week in flower for both girls and looking good for it, plenty of bud sites on them and more happening every day. The Strawberry Banana loves a feed at about 80% strength grow and bloom at 700ml daily, looking very chunky and stocky. The Gorilla Cookies is on 500ml daily and a 20% feed once in every 3 with just the pH 6.3 water the other 2 and she works great on that. She's shown a bit of a sativa side this week and stretched out above the SB, not bad for what was the runt of the 2 and having had her main stem ripped 3/4 of the way through just above the 1st node! Bought another new fan as the last was too big. That one is circulating air now in the room which the tent lives while the new one is much better suited to face the plants and has a nice wide 110 degree oscillation and 3 speeds, so quiet as well for the power it puts out! The humidifier has been swamped out for a dehumidifier and while it's too early to say it just how good it is, it looks to be gathering a bit of moisture. The new Govee WiFi hygrometer had been a revelation in just how much things like opening the tent, lights off and feeding effect the temp and humidity so hoping I can use this to my advantage! A big defoliation for both girls on day 35 and a last adjusting of the LST to expose the many bud sites to as much light as possible. Hope it all looks good to an watchers on, any advice is always welcome!

Just been flushing for a week reckon it will take another 5 days at least. The lower third i took off has been dried and is curing had a lil change of heart haha. Smells very strong fruity kinky and the colours have maintained.

Day 70-77 (Day 71) Not exactly sure why but node spacing on bbb 6&7 is super tight still. Their stems are also harder and less bendy, almost like they’re root bound. Bbb #5 in my veg tent is looking bizarre and I’m at a loss for what to do. I’ve been looking up and asking around about the leaf crinkle and no one seems to know what’s wrong. Trashing a pheno of this would hurt. It could be a keeper too as I don’t think the problem is genetic. It’s definitely root bound but that doesn’t cause contorted new growth like that. I’ve concluded that it’s my dense soil coupled with root bound issues, overwatering and high RH. (Day 72) Later tonight I’m going to give bbb 5 a bath tub flush until it’s reading 200ppms, drain it well and then transplant into a 3g pot with lightly amended soil. I’m also going to give it a light defoliation. I don’t mind stressing the shit out of this plant right now because I won’t be flipping for another week at least. With the small container it will run out of amended nutes mid flower so I will hit it with a few synthetic feedings around then to test out the smokabilty and taste compared to organic nutrients. I might as well give the rest a good defoliation on the rest of the plants too. I will try to get most of what is under the trellis. (Day 73) I definitely defoliated #7 waaay too much. Since it’s tucked away in the corner and a really bushy plant I can’t train it as well as the others. I cut most of the sucker branches and the majority of the lower fans. This should prevent the need to defoliate at all until week 3 of flower. (Day 74) I’ve been reading that higher temperatures with a high RH can affect growth big time. It could be what’s causing all the crinkling and twisting. And now that the plants are in very late veg they could probably benefit from a lower RH. When I was running my temps around 74-78F and 70% RH I was in the perfect range. Now that I’m around 82-86F with the same 70% RH that could be what’s causing it. Hotter air holds more moisture than cooler air and proper vpd at 84F is around 75-80%. I’m going to turn up the speed on my carbon filter and set my controller to 75%. If I don’t see a difference or it gets worse I will drop to 65 and go from there. (Day 76) I finally got the lights raised up another 4 inches or so. It’s not much but it should help reduce the intensity and stretch the nodes more. I’m starting to think the super tight node spacing and droopy/contorted growth has more to do with something I’ve been reading about called ‘soil compaction’. Apparently farmers often deal with compacted soil in fields from running tractors over it all day. When I potted the plants I gave them a good little jiggle to compact the soil down further so I could fit a bit more in the container. I think this could be the culprit as they don’t seem to be drying out evenly. Even the plants in my other room are not drying out like they should and it’s probably from compacting too. With the addition of rock dust and dry amendments the soil can become sandy/clay like and retain a lot more moisture. Wish I would have added a few more liters of perlite and packed the soil a bit looser. Either way I need to get this problem sorted ASAP before I get root rot. Earlier in the season when I overwatered, I stuck a fish tank air pump into the soil and it aerated the soil enough to prevent overwatering. The only reason I discontinued it is because it didn’t have much effect in the 1.7g pots. I just ordered a 36w 6 way fish tank pump that is way more powerful. It was 50 bucks and I’m willing to take a gamble on it. It seems to be my only option at the moment because I can’t just repot. Worst case scenario I can use it for brewing compost teas if it doesn’t work. I’m not sure how well this will work in a giant fabric pot but it’s worth a shot. I’ve heard of people supplementing additional air into raised garden beds with great results. I’m picking off some of the new auxiliary branches to try and widen the node spacing. Growth is definitely slow and stunted but no signs of deficiencies. I just thought of another theory on the node spacing... and the more I think about it, the more I think it’s the mystery problem. I’ve been foliar spraying with 1-1-1 VeloKelp at pretty high concentrations 2-3 times per week. I have heard in passing that kelp and seaweed can somehow reduce stretch. A quick google search reveals that Ascophyllum Nodosum Seaweed and other marine algae extracts contain large amounts of hormones and auxins that reduce plant height and stretch. *facepalm* Guess I’ll stop that for the rest of the cycle. As far as I know there is nothing I can really do but wait for the plant to use up all those excess hormones and nutes. The recent 0-0-15 seaweed extract and 1-0-3 kelp meal I bought is derived from the same kind as the velokelp. I guess I won’t use it again until week 3 or 4 in flower. Tight nodes are very useful in flower but aren’t desirable at all in when trying to scrog in veg. Especially when they’re like a half inch apart. It slows the shit out of a grow. Vietnamese and biker gangs in my area used to grow SOG style and use a synthetic PGR hormone (meant for bonsai trees) called ‘paclobutrazol’ that would make the weed rock hard dense so they wouldn’t have to pay people as much to trim it. I’ve heard that in recent years they have made the switch to using kelp extracts because paclo is getting harder find and is not meant for food crops let alone smokeable crops. I’m ashamed of it but I have smoked pounds of PGR weed long before I knew what a PGR was. 🤷‍♂️ (Day 77) One more theory. Ever since raising up the plants up onto that shelf the root zone is probably significantly warmer and the bottom of the pot (where most of the roots are) drys out way quicker. It’s possible that the warmer root zone could not be holding dissolved oxygen at the proper rate resulting in that over/underwatered look. Or it could be that I’m not watering enough at once to reach the bottom of the pot where the roots are and it’s indeed under watered. I’m going to water in a gallon when I get my new air pump and see if that makes any positive change. If I see the new air pump making a difference, I will flip on the 21st of April. If I don’t see a difference, I will carefully untangle the plants from the scrog net and remove the shelf. That extra foot should make a massive difference with ppfd and will cool down the roots significantly too. I’m thinking about grabbing a simple soil/compost thermometer to check the temp of the medium. Better safe than sorry. Rough week. Hopefully everything get smoothed out in the next little while before I flip.

Brooklyn Sunrise was not difficult to grow, she has a nice indica shape structure, with short internode. She has a lot of sidebranch and all produced big nugs. The second note was very dominant and gave 2 enormes side buds. I performed a HST to create a more even cannopy and a bigger main cola because of a bigger nut transport line.. EC levels never raised EC 1.4 and i had never a problem with feeding her. I harvest this plant at day 77. This plant had a wonderfull sour diesel smell, buds are covered with crystals and are sticky as hell. Buds are fattening up pretty well and I've had to use more rubber garden wire and clips to keep the branches from bending over. Smell is increasing on the Northern Light but still a mild skunk on the Black Devil. Also gave the very last feeding on the plants this week so they will get nothing but water until the chop. I'm very happy with the microbe populations so I stopped feeding the sugars (molasses/agave) as the plants themselves don't get much out of them; that stuff is just for feeding the soil beasties. I had added some predatory mites several weeks ago to deal with some springtails, and the mites annihilated the population. I did find a developing larva though so there are still some around. Posted lots of microscope videos today.
